“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Monday morning not-working from home

by | Dec 4, 2023 | Mondays | 2 comments

Mondays are pretty awful at the best of times. They are even worse when you have to deal with public transport. And they are just MISERABLE when said public transport is shut down because rail workers are pissed about getting paid quite a lot more than the national average, with vastly superior benefits to the very people they are trying to convince to pay them yet more.

Fortunately, that is where the Great Mondaydact Browser Killer comes in – partly to help us while away the hours until the day finally ends, and mostly to remind us that working from home is here to stay.

Ten years ago, rail strikes and ecomentalist protests were enough to bring a developed economy to a screeching halt. Today, however, that is no longer the case, and in fact working fro an office seems to be quaintly anachronistic for most white-collar jobs.

Here is our old friend, Aaron Clarey, to help remind us of these salient facts:

That is NOT to say there is no room for on-site work, of course. Despite what doctrinaire economic thinking tells us these days, from those very same “neoliberal economists” who got the entire developed world into such trouble of late, Western nations still need factories to produce things.

And those factories still need employees – quite badly, in fact:

The U.S. Navy is beginning to build 12 top-of-the-line nuclear submarines , with the first one scheduled to be completed by 2027. But it is missing a critical ingredient: many of an estimated 50,000 skilled workers to get the job done. It also lacks a reliable supply chain and the infrastructure to build the massive vessels.

Across America, industries are facing enormous supply chain delays, worker shortages and places to build due to several decades of offshoring and deemphasizing manufacturing research, education and training in the U.S.

For example, the textile industry is experiencing a 20% worker shortage, and the metal fabrication industry expects a 400,000-worker shortage by 2024. The first decade of the 21st century alone saw U.S. manufacturing jobs decline by one-third, falling from 17 million in 2000 to below 12 million in 2010.

I am a manufacturing researcher who works on ways to solve a key part of American manufacturing challenges: preparing workers to leverage todayโ€™s technology while advancing tomorrowโ€™s technology. A new workforce skilled in the design and operation of new and existing machine tools is needed to ensure America has enough workers to fill jobs.

But these are not your motherโ€™s machines. They are networked for improved reliability and data collection, programmable for automation, and can shape metal alloys and composite materials into critical products such as medical implants, turbines for airplane engines and molds for plastic bottles.

It is not merely the Military-Industrial Complex that is struggling to find workers. The same issue crops up again and again in multiple industries – semiconductor manufacturing, cars, computers, robotics, and God only knows how many others.

Supposedly, manufacturing jobs are coming back to the FUSA – slowly:

But not nearly fast enough to make a serious difference to the long-term economic collapse of the West.

Ultimately, though, the debate over WFH is one the white-collar world seems to be losing. WFH is here to stay, and companies that continue to demand people back in the office are going to run into long-term problems with getting the right mix of workers at the right cost.

The Mighty God-Emperor

His Most Illustrious, Noble, August, Benevolent, and Legendary Celestial Majesty, the God-Emperor of Mankind, Donaldus Triumphus Magnus Astra, the First of His Name, the Lion of Midnight, may the Lord bless him and preserve him, claims he will launch a full purge of all Marxist prosecutors throughout the country at the Federal level, once he retakes the Cherry-Blossom Throne:

I will believe that when I see it. The God-Emperor was and is long on words and short on action. And the scale and scope of the problem presenting him is too great even for one such as him to take on.

Dawn of Battle

The Male Brain has lots of great thought-provoking stuff for us this week. We begin with a very intriguing question answered by DocuDubery:

All I can say is, if the Roman Empire had Excel, they would have been a damned sight more productive and mathematically capable than they were. The Romans were a weird paradox โ€“ incredible engineers, SHITE mathematicians (because their number system was so silly).

thejuicemedia discusses how one might go about rigging elections:

Western governments are the absolute experts at this, of course. I call the Western political system, โ€œdumbocracyโ€, for a reason โ€“ because you would have to be a LITERAL IDIOT to believe any Western nation these days actually has a government by, of, and for the people.

Sabine Hossenfelder asks an absolutely relevant and vitally important question:

PsycHacks explains a major conundrum of female psychology:

tl;dw: women shit-test your frame all the time.

Nikki Howard explains modern dating through a mockumentary:

Another one from him about high-fiving, which I think has largely died out now in the post-Convid age:

Via The Male Brain, we have a video from Vox โ€“ yes, I know, shitlib rag, etc., keep your shirts on โ€“ which explains how matter transforms under extreme pressures:

Also, via LRFotS MrUNIVAC, the following video from What Iโ€™ve Learned explains why eating meat is GOOD for the planet:

I had a big-ass ribeye steak with sweet potato fries for dinner last night. It was DELICIOUS. Iโ€™m doing my part!!!

Poli-ticking Off

Mark Dice explains the latest libtard own-goal with respect to Honest Injuns and all that sort of thing:

I could not care less about sportzball, of course, so I have no idea what this latest kerfuffle is all about, but it is always amusing to see idiots hoisted on their own petards.

The dynamic duo over at Redacted think the TROOF is out there:

I have no strong views on the whole UFO/aliens thing, and I am open to the possibility that highly advanced, extremely intelligent (from our perspective) extraterrestrial life exists. There is no contradiction between that notion, and anything the Bible says.

All I can say, though, is: the timing of all this stuff is very CONVENIENT. Right when the Globohomo Gimpire is finally collapsing in on itself, right when Clown World approaches Peak Assclownery, we see lots of material appearing all of a sudden about aliens?!?!?!

Sounds like a psy-op/distraction to me, personally.

PJW looks with much foreboding to what is happening with โ€œThe Notoriousโ€ Conor Macgregor in the wake of the Irish riots against unlimited Wakandanism:

Rulings from the Bench

Judge Nap is back from the post-Thanksgiving food coma to resume his interviews of great talking heads. We start, as usual, with Col. Douglas Macgregor, who talks about the difficulties in taking morally absolute stands in modern warfare:

DA KERNEL makes some excellent points here. Unlike Maj. Scott Ritter, who is way over the top in his anger and condemnation of Israel โ€“ despite never actually being in urban combat โ€“ Col. Macgregor understands that, when you are taking fire from houses and apartment buildings, you arenโ€™t going to hang around waiting for proof or confirmation, you will simply order them levelled, regardless of who is inside.

None of that is to justify what Israel is doing in Gaza โ€“ it is outright EXTERMINATUS of the population. It is an attempt at ethnic cleansing โ€“ nothing less, and nothing more. But it is important to put these things into perspective.

Speaking of Maj. Scott Ritter, he is back and at his ranty best about Israelโ€™s strategic choices:

Capt. Matthew Hoh, formerly of the USMC, notes the importance of diplomacy when the bullets stop flying:

Alistair Crooke explains how and why Israel is losing the war against Hummus:

Larry Johnson and Ray McGovern provide their professional intelligence analyst views on current events:

Warriors of Faith

Tha Dizzle and his buddy Apostate Prophet have rather a lot of fun unpacking Izzlamโ€™s violence and lies in an epic livestream:

Dr. Jay Smith from PfanderFilms and his good friend Al-Fadi shred the nonsensical claim Muzzies make about the Koran being the perfect copy of the perfect book:

In fact, as Sheikh Dr. Yasir Qadhi inadvertently revealed all the way back in June 2020 (or thereabouts), โ€œthe Standard Narrative [of Izzlam] has holes in itโ€. We might as well stop allowing the Muzzies to call their book, โ€œthe Noble/Holy Koranโ€, and start referring to it as โ€œThe HOLEY Koranโ€ โ€“ because it is literally full of holes.

Sam Shamoun has rather a lot of fun shredding through Izzlamist lies:

Christian Prince is unusually nice to a particularly persistent Muzzlimah who tries to say he is lying about her fake religion and Moโ€™Lester the Fake Profit:

Manly Men of Manliness

Terrence Popp talks trans trouble:

All I can say is, the tranny movement is an utter disaster for actual homeless seckshuals. If they had a shred of sense โ€“ which they donโ€™t, otherwise they wouldnโ€™t be gay, lesbian, or bi in the first place โ€“ they would YEET the mentally ill men (and a few women) from their midst as soon as possible.

Reading Too Much Into Things

Your “Science is F***ING WEIRD” moment of the week is from Kurzgesagt โ€“ In a Nutshell about the end of all things:

Your long read of the week is an update from Simplicius the Thinker, in which he discusses the political machinations surrounding Bellendsky the Pecker-Piano-Player President of the Banderite Shitholistan:

So where does that leave things?

Letโ€™s summarize:

Zelensky needs to get rid of rising competitor Zaluzhny, but has decided itโ€™s too risky to do it now, instead resolving on a long-term campaign to slowly discredit him so that once a few more โ€˜lossesโ€™ accumulateโ€”like Avdeevkaโ€”they can be blamed on Zaluzhny to throw him under the bus.

In the meantime, Zelensky has switched to full conservation mode to preserve his forces, going onto the defensive to buy himself time. He has defiantly signaled to the Westโ€”thus far at leastโ€”that he wonโ€™t roll over, actualizing a Rada vote to fully legitimize the total annulment of elections. This is a form of brinksmanship, where Zelensky is challenging the West in order to basically say: โ€œSee, I wonโ€™t give this up. We have to take this to the end. So either fully fund me and get this show back on the road, or I will run this train off the tracks to such an extent that it will destroy you as well.โ€

Recall that losing this war in a โ€˜decisiveโ€™ manner would be disastrous for Washington and the sitting administration. So Zelensky is calling Washingtonโ€™s bluff to force them to re-engage. This is supported by the fact that in the interim, Zelensky has been hard at work trying to reach out to the Republican party in order to dissolve the blockade on his cash flow. You see, Zelensky still believes thereโ€™s a good chance to get that massive windfall awaiting himโ€”and he may be right. Thatโ€™s why going on defense is a smart move to buy him time, as he can work on getting that money unlocked, which could be big enough ($60B+) to fund major military operations through the ensuing year.

At the same time, heโ€™s gotten cagey and highly paranoid. Rumors claim that even on his recent trips abroad, he refused to eat any food given to him without testing it for various toxins and chemicals as he appears aware heโ€™s on the chopping block.

I saw Godzilla twice in IMAX, once at an “early access fan event” on Wednesday, and then again on Friday because I felt bad that my little brother (who’s also a big fan) couldn’t come. It is VERY good. This not the campy Godzilla of the Showa era. This movie is much closer to the 1954 original, in that it’s more of a drama that is about how Godzilla affects everyone’s lives than a silly romp. It walks right up to the grimdark line without actually crossing it, but also remembers to be funny every now and then. They also did a great job with the human stories, which are almost always ancillary to the monster action. This plays a big part in making Godzilla scarier than he’s ever been, since you like these characters and are rooting for them.

He’s also scary because this is the most vicious and evil Godzilla ever put on screen. Only the dead-eyed golem animated by the souls of dead WWII vets from GMK even comes close. Most of the time, Godzilla is just drawn to radioactivity to feed on it, or to another monster to defend his territory, and smashes some cities in the process. This Godzilla just wants to kill people and break things. His facial design is also terrifying, a rictus of pure hatred – he LOOKS like he wants to kill you for just looking at him wrong.

I’d also imagine that, if you are Japanese, it’ll have you “swelling with patriotic mucus,” to quote one of sci-fi’s greatest doctors, similar to how Independence Day (which is my all-time favorite movie) affects Americans. Like in Shin Godzilla, there is a strong sentiment of “our government sucks and is not going to help us with this problem, so us humble citizens need to take matters into our own hands.” There are rousing speeches and the ending is about as crowd-pleasing as it gets, but the important thing is that the characters EARN it. There is also a surprisingly honest assessment of Japan’s involvement in WWII and willingness to throw the lives of its people and soldiers away for no good reason. The main character is a Kamikaze pilot and that is not in ANY way glorified.

In short, go see it. Don’t sail the high seas because it’s a well-made film that is worth your time.
