The legendary La Sophia apparently once said words to the effect that, “Everything you see, I owe to spaghetti”. Now, given she was for many years EASILY the most beautiful woman in the world, and by some distance, and given what she looked like in her prime, that is quite an advertisement for the figure-enhancing powers of that most classic Italian dish.
Personally, I am not a fan of the stuff, not anymore. I used to be, back when I ate a lot of pasta and bread and things of that nature. Having gone somewhat more Paleo/Primal over the past 15 years or thereabouts, I no longer bother eating it. Unlike many who go on (relatively) low-carb diets, i actually do not miss the taste of bread and pasta very much. I enjoy it on occasion, such as when I am on holiday, but overall, I keep my consumption of cereal-based foods to a low level.
The Eyeties, on the other hand, appear to believe all of this is fatuous health-obsessed nonsense, and want to stick to their own traditional dishes and way of life. And I have to say – good on them for that. Their La Dolce Vita is really something. I visited Italy for the first time in late 2024, and thought it was an incredible country with many wonderful things to see.
Given how dark and nasty the last week or so has been, what with the world kind of TIPPING STRAIGHT OVER THE CLIFF INTO WORLD WAR 3 and all, we could all use more of that sort of thing.
So here is the lovely lady of the week, who is of course an Eyetie. And, as we often say around here, we rather approve of Eyeties in general.
This here is Anna Ponzola, age unknown but seemingly in her mid-twenties, and she does… something involving social media, which apparently requires her to travel a lot. Make of that what you will.
Happy weekend, all.
