This stretch of the year, from very roughly March to April 5th, is perhaps the most momentous of any when it comes to making up excuses to celebrate things. We have International Women’s Day on March 8th; Pi Day on March 14th; Caesar Stabbification Day on March 15th; Kiss-a-Drunk-Irish-Girl on March 17th; and a few other similarly goofy things all the way through to the end of March.
Oh, and there is the small matter of Holy Week, leading into Easter, but that is an ACTUAL holiday, so we’ll leave that alone.
So, in the spirit of goofy non-holidays that give us an excuse to celebrate – happy Ratio-of-Circumference-to-Diameter Day, everyone!!!
Also, in this world of divisiveness and rancour, I think we can all agree on one thing:

The Math Department at the little private school where I teach celebrates Pi Day with copious amounts of pi(e) each year. It’s a great opportunity for teachers like yours portly to load up on circular sweets.
Pie are round, not square.
