“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Every maths nerd’s second favourite day

by | Mar 14, 2020 | Uncategorized | 2 comments

Today is, of course, March 14th, which – for my American readers, anyway – comes to 3.14.2020. And if you squint really hard, that is approximately the same as the famous mathematical constant, pi – which, to the first 12 places or thereabouts, comes to 3.14159265359.

(Don’t ask me how I know this from memory. Some stories are too geeky to tell.)

Now, it used to be that May the 4th – also known as “Star Wars Day” – was every nerd’s favourite day of the year, simply because STAR WARS was actually fun once upon a time. But now that it has descended into subversive woke-scolding and downright appallingly bad storytelling, any and all allegiance to the franchise should be discarded – beyond, of course, repeated rewatchings of the classic trilogy.

Hell, even the prequels look good compared to the Devil Mouse Trilogy.

I mean, HOW BADLY DO YOU HAVE TO PHUCK UP in order to make JAR JAR FREAKIN’ BINKS seem like a better casting and directorial choice than Emo Darth Vader?!?

And another thing – [20,000-word rant about the appallingly stupid and atrociously bad Disney trilogy deleted for sake of brevity and reader sanity]

Anyway – we might as well get on with celebrating a pointless nerdy day by watching a really pointless, and mostly terrible, show that bags constantly on nerds:

There are actually some genuinely funny, heartwarming, and brilliant moments in that series. But overall, it was one long series of really stupid and cheesy crudely sexual in-jokes at the expense of nerds and geeks everywhere.

Still and all, that particular episode was pretty funny.

Speaking of nerdy stuff:

I actually liked The Big Bang Theory show. The Sheldon Cooper character was the one who made it so successful and it's a shame that he is leaving to pursue projects with gay and sjw content.

In 3rd rock from the sun they use it as a cheer for the football team. I can't render why but I can remember 3.14159.
