Seeing as it is October 31st, and it is “that” time of the year again, let us go a bit against the grain and crank up the volume ALL THE WAY TO 11, with everyone’s favourite GRANDDADDIES of power metal:
The funny thing is, though, that HELLOWEEN, despite their name, have penned plenty of great songs that would not be out of place in a church service – well, one that plays heavy freakin’ metal before the sermons:
As far as Halloween – the day – is concerned…
I have spent a lot of time over the past couple of years listening to various Christian (primarily Catholic, but a few Orthodox as well) exorcists, and their view of Halloween, as an event, is universally hostile.
There is very good reason for that attitude.
Halloween really is a day of major spiritual activity, because the spirit realm recognises full well that there are many millions of numpties getting dressed up in costumes and pretending to be ghosts, ghouls, zombies, vampires, witches, warlocks, furries, and so on. The people doing this think this is all a bit of harmless fun.
It is not.
There is real spiritual power behind these acts, which the daemonic realm has gone to IMMENSE lengths to obfuscate and cover up. You do not have to take my word for it – just listen to what a former high-ranking warlock, who is now a devout Christian and Catholic, has to say about it:
Halloween is indeed a night of power for the dark forces. Those who consort with evil, use this as a day to cast spells and curses on ordinary people.
Lest you be foolish enough to ignore the power of such curses, I assure you, they have TREMENDOUS power. I do not do much – really, any – reading into the occult, and with good reason, because if you start delving into the occult, there is a very real danger that you will first lose your mind – and then, eventually, you could lose your soul.
I dunno about you, but my soul belongs to God. Whatever time I have on this Earth, belongs to Him, and no one else. I swore to serve Him – which I do extremely badly, it has to be said.
However, there is one book that is worth reading. It is called The Exorcism Files by Adam Blai. If you come to that book, looking for sensationalised and terrifying accounts of daemonic possession, complete with Hollywood-style effects, then you will be a bit disappointed. Mr. Blai discusses some of the scariest things imaginable in short, dry, absolutely non-sensationalised vignettes, that somehow manage to make you feel like he is describing his weekly grocery shop. You don’t get a feeling of existential dread when reading those accounts – because that is not the point, he is not trying to scare you shitless.
He is simply trying to get you to understand how evil manifests. The stories in that book ARE terrifying – they are of the kind that, if they were turned into movies, would make you wet yourself in the theatre.
Yet, the stories he narrates – especially the ones where the afflicted people are relieved of their terrible suffering – also show the power of God, which truly is infinite.
God can, and does, use daemons – the adversaries – to purify people and make them turn away from sin. Some of the holiest and most pure people you will ever meet, are those who have been through the horrors of dealing with daemons.
Which brings us back to the realities of Halloween. Under no circumstances should Christians celebrate this fake holiday. It is not merely silly – it is DANGEROUS. Unscrupulous people are going to use tonight to try to imprint the youngest and most impressionable among us with the mark of evil. Do not allow this to happen.
I am not exaggerating about this. My sort-of-ex – with whom I am nowadays on very good terms, and consider a close friend – was horrified when she heard that her son’s social group wanted to take the kids for some sort of concert today in the middle of a cemetery, but she did not (and does not) have the theological background to understand why this was a bad idea. When I heard about it, I immediately told her to refuse to allow her son to participate in any such thing. Sending a child into a graveyard, on Halloween, for a concert, while dressed up in a silly outfit, is LITERALLY PAINTING A TARGET on that child’s back.
HELLOWEEN – the band – is a lot of fun. Halloween – the “holiday” – can be rather dangerous, the moment you actually unpack it for what it is.

This is precisely the reason to celebrate Halloween…in the most tacky, offensive way possible. Why should mankind fear the supernatural (if it even exists), we should do what we do best: give it the finger and remind it that yes, it’s extermination is coming. We will hang the demons on our walls, string up their collaborators, and prove that we are the apex species.
For humanity excels at one thing above all else, destruction. Have faith that we can figure out how to destroy the alien, the demon, and the heretic. Doom is not fantasy, it is prophecy.
My friend, you have no idea of what you speak. That “defiance” against the supernatural is precisely what the Adversary wants and seeks out – because it is the sin of Pride, and he knows better than anyone else how to use that to his own ends. In the natural realm, humans are at the top of the hierarchy – but in the spiritual realm, we are by far the weakest and least capable of all creatures. This is why the Bible states plainly that humans must not seek out and worship other gods, and must not meddle in spiritual practices.
The destruction of Satan’s kingdom is coming – but it will be God’s power that does it, not Man’s, and it is up to every man to choose a side in that battle.
Pride is the overestimation of one’s capabilities, so far the human race has to date developed… Atomic weaponry, dirty bombs, EMI equipment, hydrogen bombs, sonar, radar, radar jammers and radio. Notice that all of these in some way involve manipulating aspects of reality that humanity previously didn’t even know existed. IF past performance is any indication mankind can probably figure out what “dimensional frequency” the supernatural inhabits (IF it exists).
Our past examples all point to one thing, once humans discover something we almost immediately set about trying to manipulate and/or destroy it for our own benefit. Indeed, assuming the supernatural is real humans have been doing the “manipulating” part for a long time (always with bad results). This logically points to what R&D should be devoted to: finding new and improved ways of blocking off and/or destroying the supernatural.
The problem with waiting around for another to do the blocking off/destruction of the supernatural is that until (or should I say, “IF”) they do so we are prey animals. Worse our predators have time to grow ever stronger, fortify their dominion, and weaken us. This is needless to say, unacceptable.
All of which means exactly NOTHING to the spiritual entities that inhabit these realms. Both angels and daemons are capable of defying what appear to be normal laws of physics – because they are beings of pure spirit, they do not need to obey the same laws we do. They are not restricted by matter, energy, or spacetime.
Your proposed solution of cutting off our world from that of the immaterial one, will not work – because the only way to do that is to destroy humanity. Daemons require, and seek out, human bodies to inhabit. This is because many (not all) daemons originated with the Nephilim, all of whom were destroyed during the Flood (see Heiser’s work on the subject). They seek out human bodies to inhabit, and human souls to torment. To destroy their power, you would have to destroy the very things they need the most – which is to say, people.
The problem with that counter argument Didact is this, humanity doesn’t know all the laws of physics. We have still not solved the question of Dark Matter, the (non)existence of parallel universes, what happens to matter sucked into a black hole, and so forth. Simply because we cannot see a rule does not mean it doesn’t exist.
Furthermore you contradict your own religion…
“For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment” 2 Peter 2:4 KJB
That sounds awfully like being restricted by matter, energy, and space time to me. And while I can find no direct evidence of what transpired with their drowned children in your holy book I can make an educated guess…hell and chains of darkness. Your god was not noted for his mercy in the old testament (Hebrews & Satan slightly excepted), it fits given what I have to go on.
As for cutting off the immaterial from the material that question cannot be answered one way or another at the moment, note that while I do think blocking off/destroying the supernatural is the best course of action it remains to be seen if that is possible. It also remains to be seen if the supernatural even exists, I have an alternative theory.
Expect a long, long substack piece on said alternative theory…it might even compete with what Ron Unz puts out.
It is true that just because we cannot see the rules, does not mean they do not exist. However, we can say, with a high degree of certainty, what the laws of gravity are. We know, based on every single experience every day of our lives, that people should not be able to levitate spontaneously, and a 50Kg woman should not be able to throw around multiple 80Kg men for hours on end without ever breaking a sweat or seeming tired. Yet this is exactly what possessed people can do.
That is the power of the spiritual realm. It transcends the laws that govern our daily physical reality.
What is Hell? Is it a place, or a state of mind?
The answer is: YES.
It is both. Hell, Sheol, Gehenna, whatever you want to call it, is nothing more, and nothing less, than total and entirely voluntary separation from God’s presence. And the Bible makes that absolutely clear. The place to which those fallen angels were cast down, is both a place and a state of mind of eternal torture and misery. Those chains of gloomy darkness are both physical and metaphorical – the chains are the binding force of God’s will, which forces the daemons to operate under restrictions He imposes.
Again, listen to what Dr. Heiser had to say. Matthew and Luke both discuss the return of an unclean spirit. What does “unclean” refer to in the original Greek? One of the meanings is: “unholy mixture”. That is precisely what the Nephilim were – a mix of angelic and human essences, resulting in profoundly terrible and evil creatures.
Daemons roam free when God permits it. They return to their state of confinement when He requires it. When loosed, they can do terrible things to people. When confined again, they are powerless. Again, the Bible is very clear on this subject – when Jesus cast out Legion from the Gadarene Daemoniac, they begged Him for permission to leave, because His very presence was torture for them. Up to that point, they filled that man with tremendous strength and power, and tormented him night and day.
That is the nature of the daemonic realm. It is quite terrifying to humans, who are apex predators in our world – and prey in theirs. But it has sharp limits to its power and strength. Daemons seek out humans to torture and torment, because they want all of us to be like them. They recognise that God created us to serve Him in their place, and they hate us for it.
There are only two ways to destroy the power of daemons. The first is to kill all of humanity. The second is to bend to God’s will and to serve Him – because when we do that, our bodies and our minds become sacred spaces, holy ground, and we become the shock infantry of God’s legions.
Never forget that this world is ruled by Satan, and Christians are invading and occupying armies in his territory.
There’s people on the TradWest Facebook group claiming it’s a totally Christian holiday. Unbelievable.
