The phrase, “escalations escalator”, was first coined sometime last year by Alexander Mercouris, whose videos I consider a daily must-watch for a powerful (if prolix – but look who’s writing) overview of current events and geopolitics. He coined it to describe the very stupid American method of using financial penalties to ratchet up pressure on countries that do not do the will of the New Evil Empire.
Evidently, Clown World has not learned ONE SINGLE DAMNED THING from dealing with the Russians for the past 10 years, because they are now attempting to use the same playbook they once used on Russia, against the Chinese:
There is evidence that China has attempted to manipulate US elections, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told CNN on Friday, as he wrapped up his three-day visit to the Asian nation.
Host Kylie Atwood asked the senior diplomat about a pledge not to interfere in American democratic processes which Chinese President Xi Jinping gave to his US counterpart Joe Biden during their meeting in San Francisco last November. Recent reports have suggested that Beijing has failed to honor this promise, she claimed.
Blinken refused to discuss any specifics. In general, Washington would consider any election interference “unacceptable,” he stressed, and that is what he reiterated during talks with top Chinese officials this week.
”We have seen, generally speaking, evidence of attempts to influence and arguably interfere. And we want to make sure that’s cut off as quickly as possible,” the secretary of state added.
Atwood’s conclusion from Blinken’s remarks was that China is “not heeding” US warnings.
A threat assessment issued by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in February stated that Beijing “aims to sow doubts about US leadership, undermine democracy, and extend Beijing’s influence” through information operations and possible election meddling.
”Even if Beijing sets limits on these activities, individuals not under its direct supervision may attempt election influence activities they perceive are in line with Beijing’s goals,” the document stated.
Claims that Chinese accounts online are trying to influence politics in the US came recently from the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), a London-based think tank, and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), a Washington DC-based lobbying organization.
Lord, here we go again…
This is the exact same playbook – literally THE EXACT SAME ONE – used by Clown World against Russia, for YEARS.
Russia began its open rebellion against the Empire of Lies in 2014, and annexed Crimea – which was always RUSSIAN, ever since Catherine the Great conquered it over 200 years ago – with the help of formerly “Ukrainian” troops, who simply switched sides and turned into the “Little Green Men” and “Polite People” of the memes. The FUSA and the rest of Clown World were absolutely enraged by the loss of their putative future naval base in the Black Sea, which would have blocked Russia from all possible warm-water port access, and thereby turned all of the Black Sea into a NATO lake.
Following that, the FUSA and the EUSSR imposed heavy sanctions on Russia, with the goal of toppling its financial sector. The Russians, being both highly intelligent and exceptionally patient, circumvented that by creating their own national payments infrastructure. At that time, Clown World could not justify further actions without casting its own moral legitimacy into serious question, so it stopped short of shoving the entire Russian banking system off SWIFT and sanctioning every Russian bank.
But that, in turn, gave the Russians time to prepare. And that is precisely what they did. They moved their banking system to a domestically-oriented system of deposits and financing, and rapidly built up their autonomy in industrial production.
Then, Clown World tried again, by linking Russian “election interference” with the rise of His Most Illustrious, Noble, August, Benevolent, and Legendary Celestial Majesty, the God-Emperor of Mankind, Donaldus Triumphus Magnus Astra, the First of His Name, the Lion of Midnight, may the Lord bless him and preserve him. That whole “MUH RUSHIAN KAHLOOOOOOOOZHUN!!!” narrative did serious damage to the God-Emperor’s Presidency, and spurred him to seek even heavier sanctions against Russia.
We must never allow ourselves to forget that, for all the great good the Trumpasaur did, Orange Boi is still responsible for the utterly disastrous state of relations between Russia and the US today. He was the one that closed down virtually every Russian consular outpost in the US, and he was the one who imposed hefty financial penalties and sanctions on Russian businesses and individuals. He was also the one who restarted weapons supplies to 404 – Country Not Found, leading directly to the current crisis.
No one should ever seek to absolve Donaldus Triumphus Magnus Rex from his very foolish and stupid mistakes, which alienated a nuclear, military, and industrial superpower, whose people have actually far more in common with Americans, than most Americans realise.
I know, because I have lived in both countries, and as such, I have rather more authority on the subject that most Western geopolitical commentators. The reality is, Russians used to regard Americans, and their seemingly incredibly high standard of living, as an aspiration to strive toward – but today, they regard Americans with open contempt.
They are fed up of American wokeness, stupidity, illiteracy, ignorance, backwardness, and divisiveness. They think many Americans are simply idiots, led around willingly by the nose, by a vampiric and extraordinarily evil elite. And they want nothing to do with American culture, which they increasingly consider to be toxic and disgusting in the extreme.
What many of them think of Europeans, is not fit for printing.
Despite these failures of judgement, it is clear The Donald has learned nothing from his previous attempts to bend Russia to America’s will:
Economic aides to former US President Donald Trump are looking for options to stop countries from shifting away from the US dollar as it faces a growing challenge from emerging markets, including BRICS nations, Bloomberg reported on Friday.
The presumptive Republican nominee for the November presidential election and his team are discussing penalties against both allies and adversaries who seek to divert their trade from the greenback to other currencies. The options could include export controls, currency manipulation charges, and tariffs, the outlet said, citing people familiar with the matter.
The global trend toward using national currencies in trade instead of the dollar gained significant momentum after Russia was cut off from the Western financial system and had its foreign reserves frozen in 2022, as part of Ukraine-related sanctions.
A bill with provisions authorizing the US to confiscate frozen Russian assets, which Biden signed on Wednesday, could further spur de-dollarization, financial experts have warned. The so-called REPO Act, which was incorporated in the $61 billion military aid package for Kiev, authorized the US president to seize Russian state assets held in American banks.
This is about the dumbest thing Trump could possibly do. Sovereign nations are fleeing from the dollar, precisely BECAUSE they do not trust the American government, and because they fear American SANKSHUNS!!!, which are literally the only weapon the Deep State has anymore. It is also an increasingly useless one, because alternative payment systems have emerged, and are rapidly coalescing into a true global payments backbone.
This is why trying to ratchet the Chinese up the “escalations escalator” is going to be the stupidest and most insane thing the FUSA could possibly do.
China is a VASTLY more powerful country than Russia, economically speaking. If Russia has the sixth largest economy in the world, by PPP – and perhaps the third or fourth largest industrial/manufacturing base in the world, MUCH bigger than Germany’s, and probably at least as big as Japan’s – then China is THE biggest.
Keep in mind that Russia, with half the population of the FUSA, produces near-as-dammit as much steel as the US does – and nearly as many STEM graduates (that last figure is rather dated at this point), with nearly double the percentage of total university graduates in STEM fields as the US does. Further, keep in mind, the Russians produce ALL of that steel, and almost ALL of that talent, for internal use – whereas the FUSA’s STEM graduates are actually in large measure from China, India, and other nations.
Now, if Russia – with, again, HALF the population of the FUSA – can easily keep pace with Amerikhastan’s overall production and labour force quality…
Imagine what China can do.
China produces more than TWELVE TIMES as much steel as the US does. Its manufacturing capacity is larger than the US and Europe COMBINED. Its financial institutions have their own completely native payments system, apps, and technologies, and the Chinese are rapidly scaling up their production of high-end semiconductors, to the point where they can now rival top US companies for high-end microprocessor technology.
Put simply, this is NOT a country the US can SANKSHUN!!! easily – even less so than it could Russia.
The playbook has already been exposed. We know what is going to happen:
- The FUSA will accuse China of election interference;
- The Deep State will seek to sanction Chinese financial entities, expecting the Chinese financial sector to go into deep crisis;
- The financial sector will show much greater than expected resilience – not least because the New Huangdi, Xi Jinping, has been working very hard to force the sector to de-leverage;
- Becoming increasingly desperate, the Deep State will then seek to sanction Chinese manufacturing entities;
- China will simply secure resources and markets through its existing and deepening relationships with other nations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, via BRICS and the SCO;
- In a state of panic, the Deep State will then try to provoke a war with Taiwan, expecting the Chinese military to be easy to defeat, because reasons;
- China will then use Russia’s resources and its own colossal manufacturing base to out-produce the US and defeat it comprehensively;
This is how things will play out. It is just that simple. We can reliably count on the Deep State for two things – first, they will ALWAYS completely underestimate their enemies, and second, they will always fail to learn past lessons.
Now, there ARE differences between Russia and China. The Russians have a much greater landmass, but a much smaller population – at one-tenth the population, and one-fifth the economic output, turning around Russia’s economy is substantially easier than turning around China’s.
Furthermore, the Russians have built out a comprehensive payments and overseas transfers network that operates 24×7 – whereas the Chinese have not.
The Russian SPFS (Система Передачи Финансовых Сообщений) is genuinely capable of global transactions. It just doesn’t have the scale and power of SWIFT – and it will not, until and unless the much-talked-about BRICS currency and payments system comes into operation. But the Russians have the ability to provide the payment infrastructure backbone, compatible with a digital currency – and China does NOT. Their CHIPS system is designed primarily for domestic payments usage, and is not a 24×7 system, at all. It is also not particularly scalable to other nations and countries, not least because of the notoriously complex Chinese language and character system.
But, all of these are problems that the two nations can solve relatively easily, if they simply put their heads together. Which is precisely what the FUSA is forcing them to do.
The “escalations escalator” is going to fail against China, just as it did against Russia. The difference is, today, the FUSA is far weaker than it was merely 2 years ago. And there is one picture which tells us exactly how and why the FUSA will fail.

That one picture tells you everything you need to know about how American power and hegemony will end – and well past time for it, too. China’s Treasury holdings are now at their lowest point in nearly 14 years, which means the FUSA can no longer export its inflation to the rest of the world, and can no longer finance its own debt by selling it to China.
The implications for this are profound, and should be causing people to wet their short trousers in the Deep State. Among other things, it spells the economic collapse of the FUSA, because countries like Russia, China, India, Brazil, and others, are reducing their stocks of US Treasuries – therefore dollars – and increasing their purchases of gold and precious metals.
Ultimately, that means the total failure of US economic policy, which essentially comes down to credit creation, not the production of real stuff.
The other great powers of the world, by contrast, have their economies rooted in actual production, which means they do not need to rely on debt-financing for the illusion of growth.
And when those countries simply stop using the US dollar, and switch to a multilateral system of currency flows, based on a common digital currency backbone… then the FUSA’s power completely evaporates.
It is at that point that the “escalations escalator” will simply collapse – and pitch the FUSA and the EUSSR straight over into Hell.

to be fair, this has been the designed goal of the American public education system for at least 50 years. probably since the FDR administration. if you paid attention to the blogs of Jerry Pournelle and Fred Reed, you would note that they had both been decrying the abject ineptitude of American education since at least the 1980s. and they were both old enough to have known from personal experience how much better American .edu was back in 50s.
.
if you’ll permit me to blather a bit from personal experience:
every time any school has ever tested me, they immediately put me into whatever purported “gifted student” program they had, if they had one. all of these GS programs were absolute garbage, never amounting to anything more than a glorified study hall. early on, we looked at some classical paintings. we didn’t study painting, we didn’t study line art or color theory, we didn’t learn perspective or art history. and anything productively useful like Math or Science, that was right out. nor did they teach reading music or playing an instrument.
.
when it came time for my “Student Counselor” to make suggestions to me as to what profession i should be aiming towards ( circa 4th grade? ), her leading suggestion was that i should be a … hairdresser.
.
now, i’m not saying that +120 IQs can’t or shouldn’t be hairdressers. if that’s what you enjoy, then you do you, Boo. but why on Earth would the educational establishment be trying to divert someone like that out of a STEM trajectory and into a service sector job which, frankly, doesn’t take very many brain cells?
.
i’ve been in schools in the Midwest and Southeast, i’ve been in public schools and parochial. i’ve been in “good” school districts and lower tier districts. the religous schools tend to be a little bit better. not much, but a little. in my personal evaluation, US schooling has been awful since the 1970s … and it’s been getting noticeably worse every decade.
Bureaucrats in the school system think they are far brighter and important than they are, so of course they don’t properly educate the gifted students. They don’t actually see the potential in those students, outside of the teachers and administrators looking good due to those students testing well on the standardized tests.
