“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Now this is what I call an epic workout:

Of course, it’s still not nearly as badass as the original which inspired it:

300, by the way, is one of my favourite movies of all time. It’s unapologetically non-PC, deeply offensive when viewed through certain eyes, and- depending on your point of view- either colossally stupid or extremely silly, or both.

It’s also one of the few mainstream Hollywood movies released in recent years that presents masculine men in a positive light- fighting for their lands, their freedoms, their way of life, against an invading army that seeks to do away with all of these things. What’s not to like?

It’s usually at this point that someone rudely interrupts to point out that 300 is also one of the most eye-poppingly homoerotic movies ever committed to film. And maybe it is… if you’re gay. Has it already been forgotten that there is a scene involving very clear boning between Gerard Butler’s King Leonidas and Lena Headey’s Cersei Lannister Queen Gorgo? Not to mention the stripper-priestess-thingy in the first third of the film?

As for the rest of us, who can both take a joke and enjoy a great movie, here’s the Honest Trailer for 300– as if you needed any more reasons to watch the movie itself:
