“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Only a few more days to go until the next season of THE GRAND TOUR:

Well, you now know exactly where Kapios and I are going to be on Friday night: at home, on our respective couches, with a big mug of refreshing beer at hand, and the sound systems on our TVs cranked ALL THE WAY UP TO ELEVEN to capture every last bit of glorious idiocy. And we’ll be joined by millions of hardcore fans of the three blokiest blokes ever to bloke their way onto a TV screen.

The first season of THE GRAND TOUR was very good, to be sure, but there were certainly bits of it that didn’t work or fell a bit flat. However, that is to be expected; the first season of a show, particularly one that had to meet the kinds of fan expectations that we all had of the people behind TOP GEAR, is always a learning process that has to be adjusted and calibrated to meet audience demand.

From what I can see, the cast and producers of TGT have figured this out and are looking to give us all a bigger, better, more bonkers experience this time around. Just as the very first series of the rebooted TOP GEAR, all the way back in 2002, was very different from the hysterically funny and brilliant heyday of the show in Series 8-18, I think we can expect to see some great new ideas that will set Series 2 of TGT apart from its predecessor.

And I suspect that Clarkson & Co. are having a very good time indeed thumbing their noses at the Bolshevik Broadcasting Company now that they are well and truly established on their own. After all, the new show is going from strength to strength. By contrast, does anyone even care about the next series of Top Gear anymore?

Those stupid toffs over in Broadcasting House must be absolutely shitting themselves these days, seeing what has become of the show that once had over 350 million fans worldwide- while the reborn version on Amazon goes from strength to strength.
