“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori?

Some years back, when I thought that Bozo BoJo was actually going to do some good as Prime Monster of PommieBastardLande, I wrote quite favourably about one Jacob Rees-Mogg, an MP for North East Somerset, who eventually became quite a high-ranking member of the Cuckservative goobermint. These days, he is Sir Jacob, as he got knighted for something or other in the last few years.

Out of all the clowns in that awful government – led by the bloody-handed Chief Clown himself, who is directly responsible for the deaths of MILLIONS of Ukrainians – Sir Mr. Rees-Mogg, or whatever we are to call him, was easily the best and most economically literate out of the lot. His YouTube channel is normally a great place to go for erudite, well-informed conservative commentary on the current, disastrous, state of Britain’s affairs.

On occasion, though, he does put forth an absolute HOWLER. His views on the Banderastan War, for instance, are remarkably poorly informed, as he takes the usual good old Tory-boy position that Ukraine is the victim and Russia is always evil. This has been standard practice among Cuckservatives for two centuries now, given Britain’s role in provoking the Crimean War and other conflicts with the Russian Empire, back in the day.

Still and all, he is a font of wit and wisdom, and I actually quite like listening to him – most of the time – even if I do not agree with him on a number of subjects. I respect him for his intellect, knowledge of government processes, and deep understanding of British law and tradition.

But then… he produced this a couple of days ago:

The video essentially talks about how it is the patriotic duty of young British men and women to sign up for the Armed Forces, and fight and die against Britain’s enemies. He never names exactly who those enemies are, but we all know they are Russia, China, and Iran – ancient civilisations which, by the way, have no particular interest in war with Britain, and one of which could turn all of Britain into a radioactive parking lot in an afternoon if it so chose.

That video has been the subject of absolutely brutal backlash. You should take a moment to visit the actual EWCHOOB page and peruse through the comments. As of this writing, it has been ratioed into oblivion, with nearly 4 times as many dislikes as likes.

Many of the comments mock Sir Jacob for taking the attitude of a certain Lord Farquaad from the first Shrek film – you know the scene I am talking about:

One does not have to struggle much to put Sir Jacob’s voice and mannerisms over those of John Lithgow, to see just how perfect the fit is.

The intense backlash against JRM is entirely justified. Think about what he is saying. He is essentially arguing that young British people should be willing and able to stand up and fight for a country whose government hates them, and has abandoned them – and the commenters rightly rake him over the coals, quite brutally, for suggesting something so idiotic.

It is not an exaggeration to say that the British government hates its own people. All you have to do, is to visit Britain itself. I have written extensively on these pages about how bad things really are over there. Friends who have visited it and travelled extensively through it, comment constantly about how depressing and broken the place feels. I have seen it myself from my trips there.

Go to London, or Birmingham, or Manchester, or really any halfway-decent-sized British city or town, and you will feel that you are in a completely different country. London does not feel British, at all. Parts of it feel like they belong in Calcutta, or Dhaka, or Lahore:

This is a deeply unsettling thing to see. The White, Anglo-Saxon Protestants that, for better and worse, built the United Kingdom into the world’s greatest empire, have willingly allowed themselves to be replaced. Or rather, they have allowed their own government to replace them – and uttered nary a peep in protest.

If any red-blooded Briton dares to say anything about this, he can be arrested for speaking out about the fact that the country his fathers and grandfathers fought, bled, and died for, no longer exists. Yet this broken, bastardised, deracinated, demoralised loose confederation of tribes, is something that JRM wants to pretend is a country worth dying for.

He is wrong, and his fellow Britons have to explain it to him in the bluntest possible terms:

This is a government that makes it impossible for productive and entrepreneurial people to work. It taxes innovation, stifles creativity, and makes energy unbelievably expensive. Americans, who are used to thinking of Britons as their strange-mannered, somewhat gay, effete, and prissy cousins, from whom they inherited their country and traditions, will probably listen in disbelief at how the British people have been held to ransom by the insane decisions of successive British governments:

It really is that bad in Britain today. It is so bad that the best and brightest of them are fleeing, and their top public intellectuals on the Right are telling them to run:

They are not doing so because they hate Britain. They are doing so because Britain, as a nation, no longer exists. It has not existed for a long time.

There is also a rather dreadful element of class at play in Sir Jacob’s screed. As numerous commenters have pointed out – he is quite willing for other people’s sons and daughters to go fight and die, but how about his own children? This is not a question that any parent should have to confront, but there is a lot of truth to the accusation. Hollow appeals to patriotism and “higher values” ring rather hollow when one has no skin in the game.

If someone like Gordon Ramsay had said what Sir Jacob had said, then he would probably get at least a reasonable hearing – because his eldest son signed on for the Royal Marine Commandos, and by all accounts has acquitted himself splendidly in the process. But Sir Jacob – nebbish, intellectual, soft-faced, stuffy, and painfully obvious as a member of the Etonian-Oxbridgenses – comes across as absurdly out of touch.

Indeed, one could argue quite convincingly that he is the consummate British upper-class twit of the year – and many would willingly swap the vowel in “twit” for another,.to manufacture a far ruder, cruder word.

The elites of Britain hate the people that they rule over. That video from Sir Jacob demonstrates perfectly just how out of touch and tone-deaf those elites are – even those who are as erudite and intelligent as he is.

If the history of the past few centuries is any indication, those elites are going to be in for an extremely rude awakening in the not-very-distant-future, when the economic and political collapse that has been brewing for decades finally becomes impossible to deny.

I will close with the words of a long-dead poet, whose haunting lines from the Great War remind us all of the terrible lie that he and his countrymen died to preserve, back when Britain still was a country worth fighting for:

If in some smothering dreams, you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil’s sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,—
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori
.
