Monday morning autobahning

Well, that weekend certainly disappeared awfully quickly. And now, we are faced with the absolute misery of Monday. Fortunately, we have a fully packed and ready Great Mondaydact Browser Hamperer to sustain us through the day. And, seeing as I just spent a significant part of the day driving, I think an automotive theme is appropriate.

You see, around about where I live, the government believes that motorists are by default enemies of the state – no matter how many of them there are. As a direct result, they impose absurdly stupid speed limits that have nothing whatsoever with the performance characteristics of modern cars; nearly highway is FESTOONED with bloody speed cameras; and the penalties for going over the speed limit are enough to make you lose your license with just a couple of infringements.

No, I do not live in Switzerland, where speeding means you spend the night in PRISON, but it’s not far off from that here.

My American readers should keep this in mind; the next time one of your liberaltard relatives brings up the idea of giving up people’s guns, for the sake of “safety”, remind them that this is how you end up with cars that the government can remotely shut down, and speed cameras that can arbitrarily rob you of your license.

Anyway – the point is, there are still SOME parts of the world where you can have a rollicking good time by driving as fast as you jolly well please. There is a place called Germany, where they have these things called autobahns, some of which are unrestricted, and you can drive supercars and hypercars at top speed.

That is properly civilised behaviour, that is.

I should point out that you can also do similar things across most of the roads in Russia. They don’t bother with speed cameras for very large stretches of their highway network, so you can drive pretty much as fast as you want – or dare – for dozens, if not hundreds, of kilometres.

These things remind us of what it is like to live in a free country…
