“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Friday T&A: Starship Bloopers Edition

I find myself watching Starship Troopers – the 1997 Paul Verhoeven film – once again, for reasons that rather escape me at the moment. The interesting thing about that movie is, provided you ignore the title, it is actually a pretty decent, stupid, cheesy, campy, over-the-top, action-comedy-horror film, shot in that very particular style that Verhoeven has (or had, anyway).

It kind of has everything, really – guns, gore, bugs, blood, guts, and bewbs. (Wet ones, thanks to the shower scene.) You don’t really need much more in a sci-fi action film.

Indeed, if you look at Bug Hunt at Outpost 9 – which is really what the movie should have been called, in line with the original title that Robert A. Heinlein had in mind for the book – then it is actually decent.

Heck, they could have called it… oh, I dunno… Helldivers, and it would have been a damn good film:

If you do call it STARSHIP TROOPERS, of course, it is AWFUL, relative to the book. The movie outright butchers the greatest scenes from the book, all in the name of Verhoeven’s idiotic Lefty political leanings – the man admitted he didn’t even read the book. He claimed he got a few pages into it, and found it too depressing and horrible to read – which we can explain by pointing out that he didn’t understand WORD ONE of the entire thing.

Put that aside, though, and you can kind of enjoy the film for what it is. Just try not to engage your brain while watching it – the plot holes in it are large enough to pass a Transport Bug through them, multiple times.

Anyway, let’s get to the real reason why you are here. This is Linda Marie, from Amerikhastan, age and birthplace unknown. She appears to be some sort of swimsuit model and TikTokist. I know nothing else beyond that.

Happy Friday, lads, enjoy the weekend.

Pretty sure Verhoeven was lying and didn’t read even a page. Why? Because there isn’t a word in the first few pages to depress a lefty. Instead, he likely asked someone to summarize the book and that someone explained, “it’s a political philosophy to cut off leftism from political power forever,” and THAT depressed him.
