Well, it took quite a bit longer than usual, but today’s Great Mondaydact Browser Killer is finally up. The delay has to do with two simple facts. First, these things are a BITCH to put together, and second, things are getting awfully busy as we get closer to Easter. Nonetheless, it is, of course, Monday, and that means we all are in dire need of a distraction and some cheering up.

For those of you who are of a certain vintage, you will remember a SUPERB game called STAR WARS: Dark Forces. I remember playing that thing all the way back in the days of the PowerPC, and it was AWESOMESAUCE – even if it was kind of a DOOM knock-off, it was HUGE fun to play.

Well, it turns out the game was recently remastered:

I never played the sequel, but I DID play the sequel to the sequel (as it were) – STAR WARS Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. And that, too, was superb:

It truly was a great game, for its time, and it still holds up even today. This was back when LucasArts was actually really good, cared about its fans, and had people in charge who genuinely wanted to put out great products.

That is why we got games like X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance, and all of the FPS and TPS games.

Compared to those… today’s AAA-rated titles are just CRAP.

And, honestly, at this stage, I think perhaps that destruction would be healthy.

I get rather tired of Maj. Ritter’s ranting about the Israelis, admittedly. I find him quite histrionic about the Israelis and what they are doing – which IS ethnic cleansing, make no mistake, but it is not outright genocide.

Unfortunately, that “genocide” idea has taken thorough root. Capt. Matthew Hoh uses the G-word repeatedly in his discussion of Israeli war conduct in Gaza:

OK, as far as this use of “genocide” goes, let us be clear about a few things.

First, the Israelis are absolutely ENRAGED by what happened on Oct 07. They are in no mood to listen to reason, and will not tolerate the existence of the Palestinians next to them. This is not surprising. The Palestinians never keep their word and cannot be trusted.

Second, nobody is going to do one single damned thing to help the Pali-Walis. Arab leaders do not like the Pali-Walis, and Arab people look at them as basically useful idiots and pawns.

Third, none of what I wrote above should be construed to mean I approve of what the Israelis are doing. I categorically do not. I think it is morally reprehensible and totally out of proportion to what happened to Israel. The Gazans are being herded out into the desert en masse to starve or burn in the sun. This is not tolerable or acceptable by any standard.

Fourth, until and unless the Turks or Egyptians go to war against Israel and wipe it off the map – which is precisely where the Israelis are heading, if they do not stop themselves – nothing and no one will stop the Israelis from doing what they are now.

And, fifth, this is NOT genocide, under any reasonable definition. The Israelis are not attempting to exterminate the Palestinians, in whole or part, by mass slaughter.

They ARE, however, very clearly engaged in ethnic cleansing, and that is very nearly as bad. The Israelis lost any hope of holding the moral high ground, a long time ago.

Reading Too Much Into Things

Your Science is F***ing Weird moment of the week is from Dawn Pine, and it is an interesting one, about how it is possible to use population data to estimate rates of not-vaxx adverse effects:

Abstract

Introduction

Understanding background incident rates of adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) is essential to rapidly detect, evaluate, respond to, and communicate about vaccine safety concerns, especially for new vaccines. Creating estimates based on geographic specific population level data is increasingly important, as new AEFI presentations will be subject to the same local influences of population demography, exposures, health system variations and level of health care sought.

Methods

We conducted a retrospective cohort analysis of hospital admissions, emergency department presentations and general practice consultations from 2015 to 2019—before introduction of COVID-19, Mpox or Shingrix vaccination—to estimate background incident rates for 37 conditions considered potential AEFI of special interest (AESI). Background incident rates per 100,000 population were calculated and presented as cases expected to occur coincidentally 1 day, 1 week and 6 weeks post-vaccination, by life-stage age-groups and presenting healthcare setting. We then assessed the proportional contribution of each data source to inform each AESI background rate estimate.

Results

16,437,156 episodes of the 37 AESI were identified. Hospital admissions predominantly informed 19 (51%) of AESI, including exclusively ADEM and CVST; 8 AESI (22%) by primary care, and 10 (27%) a mix. Four AESI (allergic urticaria, Bell’s palsy, erythema multiform and sudden death) were better informed by emergency presentations than admissions, but conversely 11 AESI (30%) were not captured in ICD-10 coded emergency presentations at all.

Conclusions

Emergent safety concerns are inevitable in population-wide implementation of new vaccines, therefore understanding local background rates aids both safety signal detection as well as maintaining public confidence in vaccination. Hospital and primary care data sources can be interrogated to inform expected background incident rates of adverse events that may occur following vaccination. However, it is necessary to understand which data-source provides best intelligence according to nature of condition and presenting healthcare setting.

Your long read of the week is by Gregory Hood, and looks at the scandal surrounding Goolag’s Gemini AI product, which is quite hilarious and very sinister at the same time, because so much of it is in direct collaboration with the US government:

Much of the post-2016 free speech crackdown came at the behest of the federal government. President Donald Trump cannot escape blame for this; his own Department of Homeland Security prodded Big Tech to ban specific figures to fight “white supremacy.” Of course, he was ultimately deplatformed himself — while still in office.

The process intensified when President Joe Biden took over, with Twitter and Facebook meeting with the DHS to discuss censoring Americans. According to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the Biden administration even gave Amazon specific book titles to ban, which the company did. The Supreme Court recently warned the federal government to back off censorship coordination with Big Tech, but true to form, its ruling had no teeth. As with affirmative action, the same policies will remain in place, only with a more convoluted and dishonest process.

The entire internet is essentially a top-down product. Every YouTube streamer, prominent website, social media account, best-selling Amazon author, or TikTok “influencer” has a podium only because he is allowed one. Every internet-driven cultural trend is therefore to some extent artificial. Social media is not a marketplace of ideas, but a command economy. White patriots, Christians, and many conservatives are banned, demonetized, or restricted, but it is almost unheard of for anti-white “Communists” or “anarchists” to face trouble unless they criticize Jews or Israel. This alone discredits progressive critiques of how power works in modern America.

Complaining about unfairness or hypocrisy does nothing, and the stakes are high because LLMs are “trained” on social media sites. For example, Reddit just struck a reported $60-million-a-year licensing deal to “train” Google’s AI. Reddit banned “racist” groups in 2015 and in 2020 banned an influential pro-Trump group with almost 800,000 members. Thus, any AI it “trains” will get answers that tell only one side of the story. Needless to say, openly anti-white groups and utterly depraved sexual content are still on the site.

AI has the potential to end online debate in a way that no other technology can. Meddling with search engines or banning people is bad enough, but the information is still there and can be found by a determined user. However, AI could replace many content creators, and will spit out answers based on its training. When AI becomes indispensable in education, business, customer service, or dealing with government, we face the prospect of an information dictatorship. Reality will still conflict with what AI feeds us, but with Western governments increasingly criminalizing dissent, we won’t be able even to talk about it. America could be more totalitarian than the Soviet Union.

AI is being programmed to be anti-white. It is being done openly and on purpose. Censorship, deplatforming, and search engine manipulation may be nothing compared to what comes next. Our country has already been wounded by the government’s insistence that we subject our institutions to the fantastic, irrational, and utterly false faith of racial egalitarianism. What happens when we are all taught, entertained, and informed by a powerful system that has been told to deceive us?

Such a society could be not just tyrannical, but anti-human. If AI replaces communication, information, and creativity, we will lose the ability to think clearly about the world or even to know that any other kind of society ever existed.
