Lads, anyone hoping for a nice quiet 2024, after the sheer craziness of the past… well, three and a bit years now, has been sorely disappointed. This year has started off with multiple new crises, and the latest one kicked off just last night. Right as I was about to get some very-much-needed shut-eye, I saw posts proliferating on Telegram screaming about the Royal Navy’s intent to bomb the Houthis in Yemen.
And that was just the start of it. The US Navy got in on the act too, launching multiple Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAMs) to pummel what are supposedly important targets, comprised of Houthi ballistic missile and drone launch sites, within Yemen.
Quite why anyone thinks this is a good idea, is completely beyond me. It should be patently obvious to anyone looking at a map, and anyone who can do basic addition and subtraction, that such an operation cannot succeed. Yemen’s territory is highly mountainous – it is very easy for the Houthis to hide their Iranian-supplied launchers and drones in the innumerable caves and valleys that dot their landscape. And that is before we get to the fact that every single missile the Americans or Brits launch, costs at least US$1M – whereas, the drones and missiles the Houthis lob at ships passing through the Red Sea, cost tens of thousands of dollars.
The cost differential alone makes the operation completely pointless and unsustainable. It will not work, because it CANNOT work. The Houthis are far from stupid – they know full well they are fighting an asymmetric war, and they know they have Iran, the strongest power in that region, backing them.
The Iranians are not stupid, either – despite being Shi’a Muslims, which means they follow a brand of the Izzlamic death-cult even more ridiculous and absurd than your “standard” Sunni nutbag version.
(Seriously. Go lookup the Shi’a hadith collections someday. They are even later than the Sunni ones, and some of their “sacred revelations” are so absurd, the Sunnis laugh at them. This, despite the fact that the Sunnis believe the Sun sets in a pool of hot, murky water, and that men and women both have seminal fluid originating from between the backbone and the ribs, and that drinking camel urine is a great way to cure illnesses of various kinds. Plenty more where those came from, too.)
The Persians have smart, driven, zealous leaders, who REALLY do not like American hegemony. They regard the Americans and Israelis as usurpers in the Middle East – “infidel” is perhaps the kindest term they use – but they are also pragmatists, who know full well they cannot take on the full might of the US military in a head-on fight, even in the FUSA’s greatly weakened state today.
So, they use proxies, like the Houthis, to draw off American resources and attention, while doing everything they can to develop effective ballistic and cruise missiles that provide asymmetric advantages over the big, bulky, hulking American carriers. Once upon a time, those carriers were awesome symbols of American military might and engineering prowess.
Today, they are simply big, fat, juicy targets.
The decline of the American Empire is accelerating. It seems to me the collapse cannot be very far off. Personally, I would be very surprised to find America still standing as a united nation after the 2024 elections. There is simply too much devilry both in our faces and behind the scenes to think the Daemoncrats will permit a free and fair election – not, of course, that the Republicucks will be any better.
It all points to a world rapidly spinning out of control – at least, on the surface. But, out of this chaos, a new order is emerging, one that appears to be far more solidly rooted in actual truths, rather than wishful thinking, about the nature of Man. And that is very much to the good.
However, there is also sad news today. One Gonzalo Lira has apparently died in Ukrainian custody:
While I have not yet seen full official confirmation of Gonzalo Lira Jr.’s death, it does seem to be a pretty likely outcome. The SBU and the Ukrainian “justice” system are not exactly known for being merciful or nice, in any way, especially to anyone they regard as spies.
I have had some harsh things to say about Mr. Lira in the past. I had, and have, my reasons for saying them. None of that changes the fact that Mr. Lira was – and here I assume the news of his death is accurate – a brave man who paid a severe price for his willingness to stay in Ukraine, for the sake of his children. And none of that changes the fact that the US government abandoned an American citizen – which it happily does when it is convenient, and has done so MANY times over the past century – to imprisonment, torture, and death.
A government that does not act to protect its own citizens, is not a legitimate government, by definition, because it has literally ceased to do its job. I will simply leave it at that.
All I can say is, the world is getting crazier by the day – which is what I have been saying for over four years now – and it doesn’t look like things will get any better anytime soon. Even so, keep in mind that the chaos we see right now is the necessary shedding and breaking of the old system, as the new one rises up to replace it.
Anyway, that is all the heavy stuff for now. Let us get to the lovely lady of the week.
This here is Viktoriya Shaschuk (Виктория Шащук), probably in her mid-twenties, from Sevastopol’, Russia. She was born in the Crimean peninsula back when it still belonged (illegitimately, as it happened) to Ukraine, but she appears to be fully Russian, and lives in Moscow, doing… well, “modelling stuff”. (Though, if a certain Ukrainian website is to be believed, she does rather a lot more than that as an… extracurricular activity. Keep in mind, however, that Ukrainians, and especially Ukrainian media, lie as naturally as you and I breathe.)
Happy weekend, lads, and try to stay sane. It is rather important, given the way the world is going, to do precisely that.

Excellent thot, and RIP Coach Red Pill.
some talking head on Fox News was blathering about how it was useless to expend million dollar missiles on the Houthis
…
and that we therefore needed to be raiding and bombing Iran proper. you know, to interdict the supply and production of Houthi munitions.

quite apart from the general stupidity of thinking that the US has the industrial capacity to open an entirely new multifaceted front in the MENA when we couldn’t even supply Ukraine, alone the obvious dumbest part of this recommendation is that, by that principle, the Russians would be entirely justified in nuking the US on the basis of our support for Ukraine.
.
and we’re still supposed to be ready to open yet another front against China. sigh
.
Fox News is only slightly less stupid than CNN. and it’s never been better than that.
