Well, here we are at what is supposedly the spookiest day of the year, but which in actual fact just involves a lot of adorable little kids dressed up in silly costumes knocking on doors and begging for candy. Good for them, says I.
There is no such tradition in the part of the world that I’m in now; it seems to be a largely American thing, with some carryover into PommieBastardLand, to some small extent, if you’re living in London. But elsewhere it really doesn’t have a whole lot of meaning.
That said – I thoroughly approve of Halloween, if only because it gives kids an excuse to go knocking on doors in their neighbourhoods and asking for candy.
And also because, of course, it gives me a chance to post up one of the greatest epic heavy metal songs ever recorded – now brought roaring back to life thanks to the reunited classic lineup (well, almost – sadly Ingo Schwichtenberg committed suicide back in the mid-90s):
