“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Domain Query: Do electric sheep dream of androids?

Longtime reader Kapios posited an interesting series of points and a thought-provoking question in response to my post about how the future belongs to those who bother to show up for it:

Problem is the quality of the population as you pointed out. But instead of using IQ, type of work, technological advancements and a bunch of other factors as metrics for quality of population, use low or high consciousness instead and you can judge better. Plenty of Asians have smart, hard working individuals, but they all walk like drones with their faces buried in their phones. Meanwhile the west is drowning in all kinds of vices like gluttony, sloth and pride. Even religious or any other spiritual institutions seem to overflow with individuals who are driven by these vices.

If you have the ability to observe your actions, thoughts and emotions through a 3rd person view, then you are part of the 1%. You have high consciousness, or to put simply, you are not an ‘NPC’.

Lately, I’ve been thinking whether or not most people are born to live like NPC’s while a small part of the population is really awake. Do you believe that or is it just biased thinking?

The short answer is that this is not biased thinking. It is backed up by mathematics and logic.

I will be the first to point out that a lot of those points raised by Kapios sound positively Hubbardian – which is to say, as if they came from the pen, and mind, of a certain Lafayette Ron Hubbard.

(I caution anyone who wants to take that man seriously: yes, he came up with some brilliant ideas and insights, but he did so not as any sort of particularly original thinker, but rather because of his ability to digest and synthesise vast amounts of information from far better informed and smarter writers. And the amount of bullshit and quackery that he layered over it was astonishing. The dude was a megalomaniacal, narcissistic nutbag.)

That being said, these points are quite solid and this idea of using “low or high consciousness” about the state of society and the way things are going, is in my opinion a valid one.

I will note that the ability to have such high or low consciousness is likely correlated quite tightly with IQ. The reason for this is simple. A high IQ simply means that you have a high ability to use reason and logic; it is a tool, a weapon in your arsenal, that makes you much more formidable and dangerous.

Having a high IQ – I define this as having an IQ in excess of 130, which is to say, smarter than about 98% of all people anywhere – does not make you especially remarkable. Two percent of the world’s population amounts to about 140 million people. That’s a pretty damned big number.

Most of the readers of this blog have an IQ at least that high. Some of you make me look downright stupid, since you have IQs in the 150 range. And that’s fine. A high IQ doesn’t make us or anyone else particularly special – it doesn’t even make us particularly talented in most areas.

Like a man who has all of the genetic potential to be a champion bodybuilder, someone with a high IQ always has a choice to use it or not, in the same way that someone with great genetics has a choice to work out and become ripped like a Greek god, or sit on a couch all day eating potato chips and look like… well, Thor in Avengers: Endgame.

There are plenty of people with nosebleed IQs who subscribe to abominably stupid ideas – there is a reason whyGeorge Orwell once (reportedly) stated that â€œ[t]here are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them”.

A man with a high IQ can choose to see things the way that they are. Or he can choose to continue sleepwalking through his life, believing the pablum and nonsense peddled by those in charge.

A man with an average IQ still has that choice, but has a far more limited capacity to act upon it.

A man with a low IQ has no such choice. He is stuck because he cannot reason his way up to higher levels of understanding about the nature of the world.

The man with an IQ of over 130 is going to find it extremely difficult to communicate with the man with an average IQ of 100 – just as the latter will find it nearly impossible to communicate problems of higher reasoning with someone with an IQ of 70.

That is why you see these ideas about blue-pill and red-pill taking off primarily in Western and East Asian societies, and not so much in Indian, African, Middle Eastern, and Central American societies. The men in Western and East Asian societies have the ability and the time and the wherewithal to ask the hard questions about their lives.

As to the second point about religious institutions drowning in vice and sin – that is certainly true. The Catholic Church has been corrupted very likely past the point of redemption, as have a great many Protestant Christian denominations – just look at what has happened to the Anglicans, Episcopalians, and in many cases Baptists.

As a non-denominational Christian (an extremely poor excuse for one, I should add) who cares far more about what the Bible says than what some priest or preacher has to say about it, I am frankly appalled at how far the various religious orders have strayed from the Word, and at how many modern churches treat the works of St. Paul as a heretical deviation from the words of Christ Jesus, rather than an expansion and elaboration of the Gospels. They view Jesus as some sort of peace-loving long-haired hippie, which is an interpretation that goes radically against everything that the Gospels show us about the man.

This is what happens when churches insist on being of the world instead of against it. They go along to get along, because that is what is easy. But religious faith is, by definition, hard. No matter what faith you follow, you have to make a lot of sacrifices and change your ways to suit those of a doctrine – you cannot just go and do what is comfortable for you.

And therein lies the second major factor behind this seemingly endless proliferation of NPCs.

IQ is just one part of the explanation. Another factor, as outlined above, is the fact – and it is a fact, well established in evolutionary biology – that humans, like all other organisms, are evolved and adapted to save energy wherever possible.

We do not want to do what is hard and difficult. We want to do what is easy and simple. And what could be easier and simpler than just following the herd?

Let’s think of this in terms of mathematics – because I’m a mathematician by original training and kind of a huge nerd, so why not.

(Two-hour-long fractal animation thrown in for shits and giggles, because MATHS.)

Human IQs are generally considered to follow a normal, or Gaussian, or “bell curve” distribution, centred around an average global IQ of about 100. The standard deviation or “spread” of this distribution of population IQs is considered to be about 15. If you remember your grade-school mathematics, you can calculate in a spreadsheet that 95% of the world’s entire population is at or below an IQ level of about 125.

Now think about what it takes to become a leader of men, of a calibre such that you can change the destiny of a tribe, community, village, town, city, state, or even, perhaps, a nation.

It is not coincidental that the IQs of virtually every US President were above 130 – a certain Barack Hussein Obama notwithstanding, whose IQ was very likely below 125.

When you combine the nature of intelligence with the facts of human biology, the answer to the question is logically obvious:

Yes, most people are born to be sheep.

And, by the way, there isn’t really anything particularly wrong with that, as long as those same sheep don’t then try to go out and harm those who think differently. (This, unfortunately, is not the case these days; the Left’s NPCs are downright rabid now, and they are out for blood.)

There is no innate reason to disparage harmless people for having a herd instinct as long as they do not harm others. This keeps people safe and prolongs the existence of a community. Some cultures subscribe to this “herd mentality” more than others – East Asian cultures, for instance, place a significantly higher premium on respecting the wisdom of your elders than Western ones do. But all cultures have it to a greater or lesser extent.

Most people are born to do not a whole lot with their lives. They are born with a degree of cognitive capacity that limits their ability to reason their way to higher levels of thought and action. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Where we run into serious problems is when those same sheep start acting like lemmings.

Now the sad thing is, those people who act like lemmings and blindly follow each other right over the cliff edge, are being led there by far more dangerous and intelligent individuals who act to enrich and glorify themselves. That is why us red-pill types argue so strongly against the nature of “the System”, or “The Matrix”, which keeps us blind and fed and happy at the cost of our souls and our humanity.

The lemmings aren’t evil or wrong. They are misled and misguided by people who are evil and wrong.

So, given that the answer to the question posed above is “yes, most people are born to be NPCs”, since they are not intelligent or strong-willed or self-contained enough to be anything else… what are we to do about it?

Here we come to that crucial element that separates Man from beasts:

Free will.

Specifically, the freedom to embrace small-t truths that lead to Big-T Truth.

Let’s say you were born with an average IQ, and average genetics, and average prospects for life. You are exactly like Luke Wilson’s character, Corporal Joe Bauers, from the documentary film Idiocracy. You are just plain average – nothing special about you.

That still means that you have the ability to think for yourself and accept or reject ideas based on the evidence that supports or refutes them.

This is your gift, your birthright, by the grace of the Almighty.

You can accept the lies that you are told, and live by those lies. And you will be fat and happy and blind for the rest of your life. And if that’s your choice, then that’s fine – but you’re going to realise sooner or later that your life isn’t really as great as you think it is. You will live your entire life with a sense of deep dissatisfaction, always angry about something or other, because you will be told what to be angry about and what to take at face value.

You will be ripped off and lied to and treated like trash your whole life.

That is the price you will pay for your choice.

Or…

You can accept that you are being lied to, and that there are alternatives out there. You simply have to go find them. And along the way you will probably find some measure of inner peace that makes you capable of accepting that the world isn’t the way you thought it was – and that’s okay. You can still survive and even thrive in it nonetheless.

This is not a comfortable or easy path. It will require great sacrifices of you. And you will often end up following the words of flawed and broken men who pretend like they have their shit together, but really don’t. You might even end up reading the words of men (like me) who preach red-pill values but struggle to live up to them in a lot of ways (again, like me).

You may not necessarily understand everything you are told. A lot of it will be uncomfortable to hear. Quite a bit of it might even be absolutely terrifying, because it clashes so badly with your innate programming that you cannot bear the shock.

But you still have the choice.

And that is all that we can ask for.

Yes, most people are born to be NPCs. Yes, some people are born to be more. Yes, most of those latter people fail to meet their potential.

And yes, those who do meet their potential – however badly, however slowly, with however much difficulty – have a right, and in my view a moral obligation, to try to lead their fellow men to a better and higher understanding of the world.

Every single one of us is master of our own fate, arbiter of our own destiny. We can choose how we want to live, or we can give up and accept the strictures placed upon us and live like herd animals.

The natural question that arises then is, what happens when guys like us meet with opposition and criticism and resistance from the NPCs?

Answer: do not give up, do not cede ground.

Look, you cannot save everyone. It is literally impossible – the laws of mathematics and physics are absolutely determinate in this regard. You are fighting against an inconceivably huge mass of people, with an equally vast weight of lies and bullshit dating back millennia in some cases. That kind of colossal bulk carries with it tremendous inertia.

You cannot overcome it. Not alone. Not without help. Fighting against the sheer weight and power of the lies is exhausting and it will break you if you try to wage that war alone. You will not succeed.

There is only one way to fight against that kind of inertia, and you see it expressed most clearly by the work done by a certain Jew about two thousand years ago, when He noted repeatedly in the Scriptures that many would hear but only tiny handful would believe.

Here, Rollo Tomassi’s philosophy applies perfectly: save those that you can, and read last rites to the dying.

If you are an NPC, you have the choice to stay an NPC or break the chains and become free. Doing so is deeply unpleasant and painful. But no matter your level of intelligence or your cultural upbringing or your genetic gifts (or lack thereof), you can make of yourself what you want in this life.

The reality is that most of you NPCs won’t make that choice. That is on you, and that is fine. Just don’t be surprised when guys like me stand in opposition to you and choose to defend ourselves and our views with maximum force and justified aggression when you attack us.

  1. Dire Badger

    Ignorance is truly bliss.
Not one man, in the history of the world, was made HAPPY by knowing reality for what it is.

Animals are, for the most part, happy. Because they 'know' very, very little. They have zero understanding of the way the world works, all they know is the way THEY work.
Intelligence, judgement, and wisdom will not make you happy. Even the Zen Yogis define Happiness as nonexistence.

Humans, however, were not designed to be happy. we were designed to succeed and strive to excel past those animals that are always happy. Intelligence exists to allow us to profit, as a species, from our unhappiness.

God, or nature (If you are an atheism cultist) has custom-fitted us with a sort of permanent unhappiness… However, as part of that baggage, we ALSO can understand how the world works, and seek to find out more about how it works.

Content is drawn from understanding that some things are simply vastly more important than 'happiness'.
