SF/F author, veteran, general all-round badass, and sometime nutcase John Ringo created a sci-fi series about 8 years ago called Troy Rising, which described a near-future Earth under embargo by an alien race, and humanity’s response to it. The whole series is brilliant, but unfortunately Mr. Ringo decided – for some strange reason – that he’d had enough of writing about alien-stomping shenanigans in space, complete with Mankind’s attempts to build its own goddamn DEATH STAR, after like 18 months.
So he left it all on some sort of weird cliffhanger in the third book, in which humanity fights its alien enemies to a brutal and bloody stalemate. Much, I might add, to my annoyance. I’ve been wanting him to come out with the next book in the series since at least 2016.
It’s a real shame, because the ideas introduced in that series are really brilliant.
One of them, incidentally, is the notion of Earth’s presumptive alien overlords introducing a virus into blonde women everywhere – for reasons that have to be read to be believed – that makes those women hyper-fertile, and extremely interested in sex.
Apparently the aliens got this idea that blonde women are best by perusing Earth’s immense collections of television, film, and – there’s no polite way to put this – pr0N.
(I am not, by the way, the first to note that John Ringo’s mind sometimes works in very, very strange ways.)
The result is a massive population boom in the richest, most productive, and technologically advanced nations in the world, which just so happens to coincide with the plans of the series’ main protagonist to expand humanity’s reach deep into space and secure the warp gates that lead to Earth. One rather useful and important consequence of that population boom, of course, is that it immediately and permanently solves the severe entitlement crises plaguing the West up until that point.
(There is an implied and added happy result that the hordes of invaders from the Dirt World find themselves comprehensively and thoroughly outmanoeuvred and outbred in nations that they were once on track to dominate thanks to demographics, of course.)
Looking at the video down below, I found myself reminded quite handily of just how useful such a virus might be for most of the Western world, and large parts of the Eastern one.
The Japanese have a lot of good things going for them in their culture: traditionalism, an insane work ethic that goes right into masochistic territory, a sophisticated and advanced civilisation, amazing and beautifully made food, an obsession with perfectionism and aesthetics, etc.
Their lack of interest in preserving their own race, culture, and heritage, however, is not one of those things:
A culture that has lost interest in sex and believes that promoting women in the workplace takes precedent over telling them to have families and children, is a culture that has signed its own death pact.
Japan has a rather odd and interesting culture. Lots of us are familiar with that old “Dear Japan, WTF?!?” meme, and with good reason. There is a lot of just plain strange to be found in Japan, and you kind of have to go there to understand how different their culture is from the West’s.
But they are, justifiably, deeply proud of everything that they have achieved.
They have built an incredible civilisation since they were A-bombed into submission in 1945. They were already well on their way, from 1868 onward, to matching the West’s industrial prowess and technology, but after WWII they really hit their stride, and by the 1970s and early 1980s, it appeared as though the Japanese would one day overtake America as the world’s leading economic, industrial, and manufacturing superpower.
They failed, though, for a number of reasons, also related to their culture.
The Japanese have an incredibly deep-seated fear of failure and humiliation. That is a big part of the reason why they never reformed so many of their “zombie corporations” that, by any rational measure, should have gone bust in the early 1990s after the collapse of the epic stock market and property bubbles that had inflated themselves to absurd heights back in the late 1980s. The Japanese simply do not want to face the consequences of admitting that failure to themselves, or anyone else, in terms of the extreme short-term pain that their people would have to endure in exchange for longer-term stability and prosperity.
And, in part because of their psychology, the Japanese BELIEVE, practically as an article of faith, in the notion that one man can and should be employed by the same corporation for his entire life.
They also believe – and I’m pretty much with them on this one – that children have a moral obligation to look after their parents.
And, of course, being Asians, they believe that the education that you get is of paramount importance. To them, education is EVERYTHING – never mind whether or not you actually learned anything, what matters is that you actually get into a good primary school, middle school, high school, and university. After that, you can take it easy, because in university you just coast after 12 years of extremely hard slogging.
You see where this psychology leaves the Japanese. They believe in all-work-no-play, a lifetime of corporate subservience, and being the “sandwich filler” between two different generations.
Inevitably, the desire to marry, procreate, and have children tends to get lost in the shuffle.
This is just as dangerous to the Japanese as it is to anyone else, and the people of Japan are facing a very stark and terrible reality. The very people who created the magnificent civilisation of Japan, are going extinct – and it is their fault.
The same problem faces most of the Western world. Western culture will not survive without Western people – and that means white people, whether they, or anyone else, like it or not. Without healthy and happy new generations of youngsters to absorb the lessons of their parents and avoid their mistakes, the most advanced civilisations of the world will not advance. They will instead wither and die.
As I have written before, there is a “birth rate event horizon”, a level of fertility that a nation absolutely must stay above in order to continue being a nation. Once a nation dips below that level, it basically never gets back out – unless the people of that country resort to truly extreme measures not seen or used since Spartan times, some 2,500 years ago.
What about just maintaining stability? The birth rate required just to maintain a completely stable nation is 2.1 children per woman – this results in a totally static population “column” rather than a pyramid, in which births pretty much exactly offset deaths.
Leave aside the fact that any such nation that decides to remain effectively in stasis will be conquered in fairly short order by other nations that have decided that they actually like surviving and reproducing. If you take a look at world fertility statistics, two things leaps out at you immediately.
First, there are only a tiny handful of nations that can be regarded as even remotely Western which have birth rates at or above 2.1 per woman: Israel, Peru, and maybe Argentina.
Second, the nations that have seriously robust population metrics are in Africa, Asia, and South America – and not in the most advanced or civilised of those nations.
The resulting logic is very clear. The future is not going to be Western, or Japanese, unless these population demographics change rapidly.
The only way this is going to happen is either through a Deus Ex Machina of sorts – such as, say, the Johansen Virus – or extreme brute force methods.
Recall what I said about the Spartans above. There is a legend, perhaps apocryphal, which I referenced in my previous article, which says something to the effect that the Spartans sent 100 of their bravest and toughest young warriors back home to Sparta to deflower and impregnate many of the Spartan nation’s most eligible and beautiful young women. About thirty years later, the Spartans had an entirely new crop of citizen-soldiers to replace those who died in battle.
There are not many nations in the world today that would contemplate something like this. One of them is likely China – where the birth rate is around 1.6 per woman. The Chinese government actually could, if it wanted to, implement such a policy.
They might actually have to, given how utterly crazy their sex imbalance has become in some parts of the country. And, knowing what I do of the Chinese, I have no doubt that if they felt that they had absolutely no other choice, they would not hesitate in the least to round up a few thousand women and force them to become baby-making factories.
Demographics is, indeed, destiny – but it is a big mistake to think that demographic trends are static and stable, in either direction. The West’s demographic collapse was not an accident that just happened overnight; it was decades in the making. Eastern Europe’s population crises were not a product of random happenstance either; the Satanic ideology of Communism is a huge factor in the reasons why Eastern Europe’s women, and by extension their wombs, are more than a little problematic.
Similarly, the seemingly sudden fertility of the Dirt World is not an accident either. This fertility has more or less always existed; it was and remains normal for women to give birth to multiple children in Asia and Africa, because it used to be the case that most of those children did not survive into adulthood. The major changes in the 20th Century related to vastly improved crop yields and disease control meant that far more youngsters in those regions survived.
The Japanese have a ferocious resistance to the idea of letting in outsiders to their country – rightly so, in my personal opinion. But if they do not do something about their collapsed fertility rates in a very big hurry, they will no longer have a culture and a nation within about 50 years from now.
And that, of course, is the very stark reality facing pretty much the entire Western world as well, as Ramzpaul points out so well here:
Japan’s example serves as a stark warning to all other advanced nations: breed, or die. It’s that simple.

Didact,
Japan is such an outlier as well as a harbringer when it comes to procreation. I've taught many Japanese both men and women. Over the years I've picked the following up:
1)Women, especially the corporate workers deeply resent that they're regulated to overglorifed tea pourer. A lot are smarter and more driven than the men. In fact if they were allowed to be entrpreneurs or better yet momtreneurs, Japanese problems would resolve themselves
2) Post war Japanese men are such gammas that they radicate gammitude that even make the most radical feminist wince. Most are corporate drones who've literally become NPCs and have been so thoroughly conditioned that the majority have fallen to acedia (the spirtual vice of deep indifference)
3) The lack of risktaking and thus entrepeneuralism as well as the overemphasis of formal education has totally stunted that astonish creativity that Japanese have.
I have an even more radical solution: Japan needs to reembrace Christanity.
I'm inspired by Nassism Nicholas Taleb's Politics in complexity (it's a 12 point chart you can find in his Twitter feed) I find it very arresting and gives me a lot of food for thought. I think you'll greatly appreciate its insights
Being prejudiced, I'd want them to take up Catholicism. To me Japan's greatest tragedy was to reject Christanity. I really think Japan would similar to the Phillipines (i.e. a society that loves kids, treats women respectfully and everyone with dignity) but with the Japanese ethos. Can you imagine what a positive influence Japan would be?
No easy solutions.

Romania actually did the baby factory thing under Ceausescu. The net result is none of these children were cared for properly if at all
Within one generation give or take there was a revolution and said dictator ate a bullet.
The TFR is Romania is now about the same as everywhere else , 1.6 or so. This number give or take a few points is the birth rate of the developed world and one hopes soon to be the entire one till humanity voluntarily stabilizes at some lower number.
My opinion here is that its an issue of social carrying capacity, the more urban a society becomes and note the US is 80% urban, the more likely it is to achieve low fertility if its average IQ is 95 and up
This effects nearly every society, Brazil has the same TFR as the US, Mexico much of it rural hits 2.24 or ,maybe lower ,some say replacement and the rest of Latin America is transitioning to low fertility. slowly but surely
And note religion is irrelevant, Iran is a actual theocracy with German level fertility and Poland for example who just made Jesus king has a lower fertility that White Americans
In fact I'll argue that once a certain level of development is achieved, low fertility is inevitable . The US went below replacement in the 30's and stayed at that or at replacement till the baby boom
That boom was an anomaly caused by lingering pre development capital and war euphoria massive economic growth along with sudden declines in infant mortality
The boom ended in 1972 and only achieved a tiny bump one year 2007 do to a weird confluence of circumstances
The boom itself wasn't that high all things considered hitting around 3 and change on average (counting 1971 as the end year)
Its also not repeatable, changes in technology will ensure that 89% of workers will never receive significant wage increases in terms of GDP , there won't be another WW2 type war either that won't result in all societies being leveled and of course the old social capital is gone
In fact the only reason the US isn't even poorer is that 40% of the GDP is government spending mostly paid for by us being the reserve currency !
End that and the US GDP drops precipitously , leaving as as second tier through still developed nation only one with a crumbling infrastructure and incompatible populations
Long and short, human nature + development + cities puts a hard limit on the population .
As for the Johansen virus? I like blonds but why not brunets and redheads too?
Still ethno specific or tailored plagues and gene driven kill-squitoes would be much simpler or just use autonomous weapons systems to destroy targets food and water infrastructure
Trying to give all fertile age women baby rabies is silly even for John Ringo
