In anticipation of the upcoming “Pumpkins United” tour in 2018, which will see Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen- the great-granddaddy of power metal himself- returning to HELLOWEEN after nearly thirty years apart, the Happy Happy Helloweenies have released a new single to stoke up some excitement:
It’s not what I would call a great HELLOWEEN track; actually, it sounds like something from classic GAMMA RAY back in the Land of the Free days. That, in and of itself, is a pretty decent compliment- but I know for a fact that HELLOWEEN can do much, much better. They did do better with their last two albums.
Nonetheless, it’s a good taste of what we can expect during their upcoming tour. I, personally, cannot wait to see Kai Hansen back up on stage. I’ve seen HELLOWEEN play live three times and GAMMA RAY at least once, maybe twice.
Seeing Kai and Michael Kiske back at the helm of the band that really kick-started the power metal revolution next year is going to be a truly special treat.
