“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

I would be interested to see what you think of their Siren Charms album. I think it sounds closer to Anders Friedan's side project Passenger than anything they have done before.

Honestly, I haven't really listened to IN FLAMES since Come Clarity was released. That was the last album of theirs that I thought really sounded like good, solid heavy metal. I consider their first four albums to be classics of melodic death metal but most of what they have done since Clayman has been of very mixed quality.

They moved away from their core sound many years ago, and I don't expect them to go back to their roots at all. That's fine, it's their decision. And in their defence, some of their newer stuff from Come Clarity and Soundtrack to Your Escape is actually quite solid.

But overall the quality of their output has really declined a lot. I pretty much tuned out of their work once I heard a couple of songs from Sounds of a Playground Fading and haven't really kept up with them since. I might go check out Siren Charms on YouTube to see if it's any good.
