“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Bordering catastrophe

Yes, I know, ha-ha, clever wordplay. Let’s not forget, however, that the inexplicable refusal of this country’s government to secure and safeguard its borders- which is literally the entire point of government– has real consequences. And don’t think ordinary citizens aren’t sitting up and taking notice:

A crowd of 300 angry protestors forced three buses carrying 140 undocumented migrant children and their parents to turn around in Murrieta, California, on Tuesday after they blocked the road.

The dramatic confrontation between the flag waving protestors and the Homeland Security buses came one day after Mayor Alan Long urged residents to resist the federal government’s plan to transfer the Central American migrants to California to ease overcrowding of facilities along the Texas-Mexico border.

Holding up banners that said ‘Return to Sender’ and suggesting the children should be sent to the White House instead, the irate protestors succeeded when the buses turned around and headed to a customs and border facility in San Diego – within sight of Mexico.

The illegal immigrants had been flown from Texas to California on Tuesday and arrived at 2pm to face many Murrieta residents furiously protesting the processing of the migrants to the Riverside County city US Customs and Border Protection facility.

It was the first flight planned for California under the federal government’s effort to ease the crunch in the Rio Grande Valley and deal with the flood of Central American children and families fleeing to the United States.

Many of the immigrants were detained while escaping violence and extortion from gangs in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.

The government is also planning to fly migrants to Texas cities and another site in California, and has already taken some migrants to Arizona. [Didact: And you thought your government couldn’t possibly be any dumber…]

It is a never-ending source of mystery to me that Americans, at least in the bit of the country that I live in, seem to think that there is absolutely nothing wrong with letting tens of thousands of foreign invaders in with nothing more than a smile and a wave. They are not here to help you. They are here to help themselves. They are fleeing their native countries because their own lands are humanitarian disasters, and they are coming here under the impression that if they do so, they will be given significant assistance by the US government.

Worse, the government appears to be letting in thousands of children with the expectation that somehow this country can accommodate not only those children, but their families. I am hard-pressed to think of a more deliberately deceitful, crazy, and dangerous policy ever instituted by any government during my lifetime. (That wasn’t directly related to a giant, publicly-financed bailout of the financial sector, I mean.)

If this is a deliberate policy, then it should be immediately obvious that the biggest threat to America’s national security isn’t some terrorist organisation or radical faction.

It is America’s own government, led by clueless ninnies like President Jackass and his ship of fools. I’d say it’s high time you impeached the bastard, it’s not like he doesn’t deserve it. (The only problem is, the next man in line for the job is… well… Joe Biden. Yeaaahhhhh.)

Not too long ago I wrote about the folly of amnesty, and Spartan responded by pointing out that:

[T]he most fervent, “kill them all and bury them in the desert”, “build a wall topped with machine guns” immigration types were not the whites (although they were close). They were the professional class of hispanics.

This is not in the least bit surprising. Your country’s immigration system is beyond f***ed up. You make people who play by the rules, pay taxes, file the right paperwork, contribute to society, and generally try to stay out of trouble, wait anywhere between 4 and 15 years to get a green card, yet you also institute a lottery system every year where 50,000 people get randomly chosen to receive the same privilege without doing anything to earn it. You keep your borders open and porous, yet you do nothing to coax, cajole, bully, and otherwise encourage your much poorer, much more corrupt southern neighbours to get their acts together, and then you wonder why you have such a massive problem with illegal immigration.

Is it any wonder, then, that those who have tried to work within the system, and been repeatedly kicked in the teeth by it (like me), are thoroughly fed up of it?

In any other civilised nation, the correct response to invasion by an outside nation has always been very simple: shoot the bastards at the border, keep them over there instead of inviting them in here. That is the only acceptable solution here: turn the southern border of this country into the world’s largest armed checkpoint, and if someone tries to get in illegally, deport his ass. If he tries to get in illegally repeatedly, shoot him at the border. It’s just that simple, and no amount of moralising, liberal hand-wringing, or lefty wishy-washiness on the subject of immigration can change these basic truths.

This is your country, not theirs. Act like it.
