If you’re not familiar with the world of Mixed Martial Arts competition, then the name “Bas Rutten” won’t mean a single damn thing to you.

For those of you who practice martial arts and enjoy watching grown men beat the ever-lovin’ bejeezus out of each other, though, Bas Rutten is goddamn Michelangelo.

He’s also one of the funniest, most down-to-Earth, and flat-out interesting characters the world of MMA has ever produced. Here is a three-hour interview done by Joe Rogan of Bas Rutten from a while back- well worth listening to in its entirety.

Or, if you’re a bit pressed for time and don’t want to listen to all three hours, here is probably the best bit, where the man talks about martial arts shysters who claim that their arts are just “too deadly” for use in the octagon:
