“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Monday morning with Father Wasson

by | Aug 16, 2021 | Mondays | 3 comments

Tell me why I hate Mondays? Actually, don’t bother – I don’t care much for Bob Geldof and his Left-wing luvvie politics and so on. That said, I don’t much care for Mondays either. They STINK, no matter how you want to look at it. But that, of course, is why we have this most excellent collection of excellent excellence to keep us distracted, in the form of the Great Mondaydact Browser Shredder. Herein lies the key to the swift and painless passage of your Monday – which automatically makes this better than anything you could possibly get from Taco Bell, incidentally.

Anyway – bad jokes aside, let’s get on with it. This week’s theme comes once again from our good friend, The Male Brain, so we shall dedicate today’s compilation to Father William B. Wasson, a proper modern saint. Take it away, Dawn Pine:

Father William B. Wasson, founder and general director of Nuestros Pequeos Hermanos (NPH; Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”), died on August 16, 2006, in Cottonwood, AZ, at age 82. Born on December 21, 1923, in Phoenix, AZ, Wasson studied for the priesthood with the Benedictines in Conception, MO, but failing health delayed ordination at that time. God sometimes has a plan, and that means that one has to be patient about it.

Later during a recuperation period in Mexico, he grew to love the people and the country and decided to stay. This is not the mexico of today – we are talking about a shithole (at the time) where people lived like they used to 400 years ago. In May 1953, he was ordained by Bishop Sergio Mendez Arceo of Cuernavaca, Mexico. Assigned to a small church in the city of Tepetates, he immediately instituted a day care center for poor children.

A year later he established his first home for orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children. He subsequently opened homes in Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Bolivia. This, at a time where international communication was sparse at best or absent (as a more general rule). Imagine going to all these places to find locations, find people to work there and more importantly – raise the money for it.

Over the years more than 15,000 have found a home and hope for the future in his homes (This was 15 year ago, taken from his obituary). NPH outreach programs, including hospitals and clinics and assistance to children living in a garbage dump, serve over 30,000 children and adults each year. He was also Vice President at the Shrine of St. Joseph’s, Yarnell, AZ. Father Wasson received international recognition for his work on behalf of children. Among his numerous awards are the Mexican National Prize (1977), the National Catholic Development Conference Good Samaritan Award (1979), the Franciscan International Award (1981), Mexico’s Order of the Aztec Eagle (1990), the National Caring Award from The Caring Institute of Washington, D.C. (1997), the Kellogg’s Hannah Neil World of Children Award (2000), the Jefferson Award for Public Service (2003), the Ivy Humanitarian Prize (2005), and a prize from The Opus Prize Foundation (2005). With a passion for the study of scripture, Father Wasson wrote three books: Luke XV, Gospel in the Dust and The Sermon on the Mount. Father Wasson is survived by a brother, Barnabas and his wife Maria Luisa; and their children, Barnaby, Alexis and Roy; and their families of Yarnell, AZ.

Regarding the books: I could not find any synopsis of each of them, and they seem to be rare books (judging by the price on Amazon). Cannot recommend as I have nothing to say except that being able to do all that and write 3 books is admirable.

Here are a few pictures of the man himself:

And to give you an idea of what he was like:

That’s what I like to see on a Monday – good Christian faith that changed the world.

I’ve been banging on for YEARS about how weird and shitty a place Dubai really is. You can read all about it here. I wrote that back in 2015 – six (!!!) years ago. (Lord help me, I’m getting old.) Adam Something took all of my dislike of the place and distilled it all into a brilliant video that breaks down just what a surreal, bizarre, and downright absurd place the UAE really is:

The Gulf States really are the result of having more money than brains – by several ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE, not merely multiples.

His Most Illustrious, Noble, August, Benevolent, and Legendary Celestial Majesty, the God-Emperor of Mankind, Donaldus Triumphus Magnus Astra, the First of His Name, the Lion of Midnight, may the Lord bless him and preserve him, has rather a lot to say about how his Fake Successor has mismanaged literally everything since he was wheeled into office:

#BasedTucker is based:

“He made him an offer he couldn’t refuse”

Mark Dice‘s powers of prediction border on the uncannily clairvoyant indeed:

Dave from Blue Collar Logic argues for a mass inoculation programme involving that rarest of all injectable drugs – common bloody sense:

And Jason adds his own thoughts about the farcical Olympic Games that finally (thank God!!!) ended last week:

Bill Whittle has words for a British “intellectual” – he says it like it’s a four-letter word, and I agree with that attitude – who reckons that he would rather allow an asteroid to wipe out the human race than deflect it and let us continue to suffer. His words are so pithy, in fact, they might ath well be yellow:

The Male Brain is back with some good stuff for us this week. We start with a Wisecrack video about whether there is an alternative to cancel culture (hint: yes, it’s called beating an SJW’s brains out with a baseball bat):

Dawn Pine points out two serious problems with the proposed solutions – his words here:

  1. People are idiots ruled by their emotions. Good luck with self regulation.
  2. New Zealand case – semi homogenouce society, euro-white based. Maybe it can work in such societies. Good luck doing it in “multi-cultural”ones.

And I think he’s right.

Let’s have some John Stossel – been a while since Mr. (Non-Crazy) Libertarian had a say:

Common Sense Soapbox has a video for us that will make the heads of your liberal friends explode – which, as far as I’m concerned, means that it is quite useful:

Paul Ramsey has absolutely NO sympathy for the plight of gaming whorenalists these days:

PJW has quite a lot to say about the Fall of Kabul:

In a sane world, the USA would have nuked bin Laden’s relatives in Saudi Arabia straight to Hell, wiped Pakistan off the map (much to India’s delight), stayed out of Afghanistan and Iraq, and not tried to bring democracy and all other such “good things” to the world.

We, of course, do not live in a sane world.

The lovely and charming Dr. Sam Bailey answers your burning questions about the Coof, again, and (unsurprisingly) her answers are rather controversial, at least according to the “fact-checkers” who pretend to be objective and know what the truth is:

Watch the full episode here.

Lord Razor of the Fist Clan makes no secret at all of his love for the original, quite dark, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

The Dizzle has a simple question for the Izzlamists – how is your fake religion rooted in compassion and peace when you sentence an 8-year-old Hindu (i.e. polytheist) boy to DEATH simply for whizzing in a library?!?!:

Islam is a profoundly evil derivation of reform Judaism, i.e. heretical Christianity that denied the divinity of Our Lord. Unsurprisingly, their moral compass is every bit as twisted and off-kilter as that of the original Pharisees of Jesus’s time.

Dr. Jay Smith from PfanderFilms and his friend Al-Fadi from CIRA International continue to unpack the myths, lies, and nonsense surrounding Islam’s origin story about Mecca:

Dr. Frank Turek from Cross Examined points out that it is possible to prove the life story of Our Lord even without the Bible:

Det. J. Warner Wallace is the man who wrote the book, Cold Case Christianity, which is on my overly long reading list. Highly recommended.

If you are still under the delusion that the Chinese government gives even the minutest quantum of a damn about its people, China Uncensored is here to disabuse you of such silly notions:

America Uncovered points out the sheer idiocy and absurdity of Clownipornia’s latest obsession with unhealthy foods:

Jared Taylor from American Renaissance takes a real sledgehammer to the awful legacy of race-denialist and Social Justice Warrior Richard Lewontin:

Terrence Popp minces no words whatsoever when it comes to Joy Reid:

Midnight’s Edge takes a close look at some of the rather fascinating Game of Thrones-style machinations going on behind the scenes within the halls of the House of the Devil Mouse:

Overlord Dicktor Van Doomcock tells you exactly how to destroy streaming services that keep trying to force you to eat the shit that they produce:

It’s a very good idea, actually. If you hate DevilMouse+, either take to the high seas (and don’t forget to equip yourself with a real VPN if you do that), or get yourself a gift card from Wal-Mart or Costco or some other big-box shop, and then get yourself a “subscription” to one of the services and screw them over, HARD.

It’s completely legal, and (at present) impossible for the evil entertainment companies to counteract.

They’ll get wise to it eventually. For example, American Express has the (limited) ability to figure out whether a card used with its cobrand or logo is a gift card or not. It would not take much for the big entertainment companies to achieve the same end with big data techniques. But it’s not happening right now, and that means that you have the ability to hammer them right where it hurts.

Gary from Nerdrotic reviews The Suicide Squad, which much to my confusion is in fact different from Suicide Squad:

The Drinker rather liked the same film:

Idris Elba, John (“I’m China’s Bitch”) Cena, Joel Kinnaman (from the excellent Altered Carbon series on Netherflix, and the not-so-excellent Robocop (2014) reboot), and NATHAN FREAKIN’ FILLION, all in the same movie?

That actually sounds pretty awesome.

Your “Science is F***ING WEIRD” moment of the week is all about how you can’t really predict earthquakes due to the way that these things form:

Rapid rupture fronts—akin to earthquakes—mediate the transition to frictional motion. Once formed, their singular form, dynamics and arrest are well described by fracture mechanics. Ruptures, however, first need to be created within initially rough frictional interfaces. Hence, static friction coefficients are not well defined, with frictional ruptures nucleating over a wide range of applied forces. A critical open question is, therefore, how the nucleation of rupture fronts actually takes place. Here we experimentally show that rupture fronts are preceded by slow nucleation fronts—self-similar entities not described by fracture mechanics. They emerge from initially rough frictional interfaces at a well-defined stress threshold, evolve at the characteristic velocity and timescales governed by stress levels, and propagate within a frictional interface to form the initial rupture from which fracture mechanics take over. These results are of fundamental importance to questions ranging from earthquake nucleation and prediction to processes governing material failure.

Your long read of the week is from The Male Brain, and goes to great lengths to tell us what most of us already knew about Wickedpedia:

Democrats and (most) Republicans were sharply divided on the question of whether Trump’s impeachments had any merit. The Democratic view was that Trump abused his office by encouraging the president of Ukraine to investigate his opponent, Biden. Later, he egged on the January 6 invasion of the Capitol building. The Republican view was that Trump’s call with the Ukrainian president was wholly innocent, that he had committed no “high crime or misdemeanor,” and that Biden was in fact guilty of dirty shenanigans in Ukraine. As to the January 6 invasion, his remarks did not cause it. Of course, there is much, much more to be said on all sides. Now, a neutral Wikipedia would not come down clearly on either side, and would fully lay out the Democratic and the Republican cases fairly and fully. Is that what we see on Wikipedia?

No. As of this writing (and this caveat goes for all of the following), there was a section of the Donald Trump article about the first impeachment (2019-20). That section had absolutely no information about the Republican side in the House impeachment proceedings; only the Democratic side is presented. As to the Senate trial, here is the total extent of Wikipedia’s remarks about the Trump (i.e., majority Republican) position: “Trump’s lawyers did not deny the facts as presented in the charges but said Trump had not broken any laws or obstructed Congress. They argued that the impeachment was ‘constitutionally and legally invalid’ because Trump was not charged with a crime and that abuse of power is not an impeachable offense.” That is all; two transparently biased sentences. Among other things, the article omits the essential point that Trump’s lawyers also denied that there was any abuse of power in the first place.

There is, of course, much more information to be found about the Republican case in the (very long) article, “First impeachment trial of Donald Trump“; but, and I suppose you will just have to take my word for this, the relevant section is extremely biased, for example, dismissing various what it calls “conspiracy theories.”

As to the second impeachment trial (that of January, 2021), in the Donald Trump article, no information is offered on either side about the arguments for impeachment, either in the House or the Senate proceedings. Certainly there is nothing remotely representing the perspective of Trump and his defenders. Again, there is a much longer article, “Second impeachment of Donald Trump,” with a “Background” section that essentially lays out the Democratic case against Trump. No Trump rebuttal is given at all. The rest of the article is also extremely biased; there is a long section of opinions whether Trump should have been impeached. The “Opposition” section (i.e., listing people opposed to impeachment) skips entirely over all House Republican opposition, and presents only Senate opposition.

This is hardly fair, neutral treatment on events that deeply divided the American people. Wikipedia took the Democrats’ side against Trump, period. The articles are so biased, in fact, that it is fair to call them “propaganda.”

And now, at long last, we come to the Instathot of the (start of the) week. She’s plastic, she’s… well, I wouldn’t go so far as to say fantastic, but she’s definitely a walking Mattel advertisement. Her name is Taylor Nicole Chambers, and she lives in LA, and beyond that I have no clue who or what she is. She does have an OnlySimps page, because it’s 2021 and of course she does. And of course she has a proper RealDoll look about her, because this is after all Monday and that’s what this section is all about. Remember – warnings to humanity on Mondays, high-quality ladies (more or less) on Fridays. That’s how it works. No bitching in the comments now.

Even so – I do approve of her curves and her overall looks. The tattoos, plastic, and fillers are all a real shame, though.

That’s it for this week, gents. Get up off your fat duffs and get back to work – and while you’re at it, if you’ve got a thought to spare for longtime reader and good friend WB, a few prayers sent his way would be greatly appreciated. He just went through heart surgery – they cracked him open like a lobster – and he’s in a great deal of pain and feeling very weak right now. Thank you and God bless you.

Jason Schreier is an interesting one. Unlike most modern “game journalists,” who are some combination of activist pricks and whores that write whatever their advertisers tell them to, he’s actually hit the beat and authored some genuinely interesting exposes on troubled productions like BioWare’s Anthem and Diablo III on lolTaku. I’ve read both of his books, and they’re full of behind-the-scenes drama that’s generally overlooked by gamers because the developers are keen to sweep it under the rug.

The problem is that outside of that, he is an insufferable flaming SJW. He was the one who created and ringled the GameJournoPros collusion site from GamerGate, and in the leaks was the one who most ferociously asserted that any criticism of Zoe Quinn, even if deserved, was rooted in sexism. He also got hilariously BTFO’d by the lead artist of the game Dragon’s Crown when he wrote a bitchy, snarky gamma article about why he didn’t like the Sorceress’s design, and then bitched about it one last time on lolTaku before giving up (link here because I’m not linking to that den of filth: https://web.archive.org/web/20210808150403/https://kotaku.com/the-real-problem-with-that-controversial-sexy-video-ga-478120280)

In short, I love the journalism, but HATE the journalist.

This video on Dubai is eye opening, I genuinely had no idea the city was like this. Who builds a skyscraper without a sewer system?! It’s stuff like this that makes your Monday morning busters a must-stop for me, thank you.

Wisecrack is consistently thoughtful and thought-provoking and they are an example of the good that the internet brings to the table. But in this cancel culture piece, they have the same error the libertoonians (a good phrase, sir) of the right have: Assuming positive intent from sharks in the water. The final conclusion of internet commenting and exchanges will be browser-based federations, where end users can feely block the malarky from the other side. All hail the echo chambers of technology….it can feed us right into the ‘Golden Transcendence’ future John C. Wright sketched out, where the non-peoples are completely invisible to the minds shackled within the augmented reality machines. By choice.

That Socrates meme is an all-time Hall of Famer! This is a masterwork and a day later I’m still laughing.

I am putting my money on the next Bond movie they will play him as Bisexual. SWJ’s always double down. They try the black woman but it was too much for the audience. They will as Didactic said do the Black Bond but the next is to play Bisexual like how they did for Loki in the new series. Playing him gay would be too much at this moment in time, especially if he is black.

With the Libertarians, I try to organized debates with many of them. Almost none got back. I think many of them are like modern Atheist where they want to debate easy people and avoid anyone with a brain.

Many of the ideas of Libertarianism do not take human conflict into account. Groups do not exist in the theories of how the society is meant to work. It is very little different to how Communism ignores human behavior. This is expect for Hans Hermann Hoppe works. I love his line “There can be no tolerance toward democrats and communists in a libertarian social order. They will have to be physically separated and removed from society.”.
