That weekend was definitely defective… I thought it was going to be restful and quiet, but it turned out to be absolutely NOTHING of the sort. I ended up getting far less sleep on Sunday than I do on a weekday. This had to do with planning my upcoming Christmas holidays, admittedly, but it was not easy going into the gym later that night for my weekly heavy leg day while short on sleep and long on grumpiness.
That, I suppose, sets a suitable framework for today, which is not a whole lot better. It is, of course, Monday, and that means we all need a stiff drink – but, since most of us do not work from home regularly, we will have to make do with sneaking bourbon into our morning coffee.
Never fear, though, the Great Mondaydact Browser Slayer is here to make it all better.
This week, we start with a good one from Logically Answered about why Ferrari has made a catastrophic series of errors in judgement about the EV market, and has therefore destroyed a significant part of its brand value:

Linkage is good for you:
- Sergey Polyetayev points out the substantial Russian advances that have now propelled 404 into an irrecoverable crisis, and pushed the West kicking and screaming toward a “pissdill”;
- Sergey Strokan shows how the YURPEENS have been completely sidelined in the “pissdill” discussions;
- Fyodor Lukyanov underscores the fact that Queef is still incapable of seeing how hopeless its position really is;
- Dmitryi Kornyev notes that, while everyone was looking at Russia and Ukraine, the Norks of Best Korea managed to assemble a world-class missile arsenal;
- Pepe Escobar absolutely UNLOADS on the YURPEENS for their “matryoshka of supreme stupidity”, as he memorably puts it, with respect to “pissdill” negotiations over 404;
- Anton Grishanov dissects the implications of the “pissdill” for Ukraine;
- Aleksandr Bobrov explains why every single attempt to make peace thus far has failed – thanks in large part to the YURPEENS;
- Indeed, the “pissdill” is actually a pretty terrible assemblage of very bad ideas that do nothing to fix the underlying issues;
- Alistair Crooke analyses why the “pissdill” simply cannot work, because it fails to address the reasons why the SMO started in the first place;
- Henry Johnston has a superb article about how GDP completely fails to measure what actually matters to economic health, which is why people who base predictions on it are so reliably wrong;
- The Russians keep improving the Su-57 iteratively using experience from the SMO – and that is before we get to the upcoming release of the Su-57M1 version;
- Hua Bin chronicles the return of social trust in China, which is critical to building a high-income, safe, stable, well-managed economy;
- Goolag has surprisingly pulled ahead of OpenAI in some critical areas – though this strikes me as a race to the bottom, really;
- The Trump Administration has made it much harder for ‘Murkins to study abroad – which may or may not be a bad thing, really;
And some more from Dawn Pine:
- An employee quit a company after he won an NVIDIA graphics card – and the employer was stupid enough to demand it as compensation in kind (keyword here: CHINA);
- Apparently, there is a way to trick Abominable Intelligence using nothing much more than poetry, to ignore its own built-in guardrails;
- Pauline Hanson pulled off another amusing stunt by wearing a burqa in Parliament – I remember when she was considered insane in ‘Straya, but these days, she sounds very sensible;
- There are structures buried within the Earth’s mantle that make Mount Everest look absolutely puny by comparison;
- Private equity is now encroaching into the healthcare industry, which could be good, or very, VERY bad;
- There is creepy, and then there is this story about a man who dressed up as his dead mother to collect her pension;
- Proving God has a real sense of humour, a guy who claimed to be a Native American, and made a lot of money from it, turns out not to have been one at all;
- Namibia was once a German colony, and that shows nowadays, given a politician named “Adolf Hitler” has won re-election there no less than FIVE TIMES;
- This story underscores the basic premise of the legendary MEGADETH song, “Wake Up Dead” – a woman in a coffin went to the crematorium and woke up just before getting deep-fried;
