In reply to <a href="https://didacticmind.com/2026/06/the-agony-of-deceit.html#comment-10081">Erich Schwarz</a>.

No. America cannot regain its former position. No empire ever does - with the only possible exception perhaps being China, and even that has serious problems.

The US is an empire ruled by a foreign elite class that has no connection to the American people. The people themselves are no longer one homogeneous nation of White European Protestants; instead, America today is a deracinated amalgam without a strong overarching identity.

The fate of empires is always and everywhere collapse into individual nations. That is what awaits the US. And the bloodshed that will come out of it, will be on a scale that we have not seen before in human history.

All signs point to this. I hope and pray I am wrong, and that the collapse of the FUSA will be peaceful, as the USSR's was. But the aftermath of that collapse, as I know very well from my time in Russia, resulted in over 10 million dead in Russia alone. Worse awaits the US.

" The Americans have shown a singular inability to learn from past mistakes, for reasons that I have never been fully able to understand."

The current ruling class of the U.S. shows those traits, yes. That being said, I do not believe this myopia is shared by most ordinary U.S. citizens, who are seriously discontented with Trump (for varying reasons).

"They still think America is the greatest, the most powerful, and the most free and independent. It is none of those things, and has not been for quite some time."

America still has a good deal of those traits, and has the potential to regain them fully -- but not without political reforms that are being furiously opposed by its current ruling class.

"The Americans have shown a singular inability to learn from past mistakes, for reasons that I have never been fully able to understand."

the war has been over-whelmingly unpopular. to non-Boomer Americans. the idea of war with Iran was unpopular during the Biden admin ( 21 to 38% ) and continues to garner 75% disapproval under Trump.

the problem is that the decision to go to war is not permitted to be under the purview of the American people. and the idiot Republicans are trying to write a bill incorporating the IDF into the Pentagon.

Donnie Tiny Hands has not particularly covered himself in glory here, but the Repugnican establishment has been WORSE ( both Vance and Rubio have at least given lip service to the idea that Israel is out of control ) and whatever electoral losses are suffered for the mid-terms will be well deserved.

a government directed by Epstein's confreres is hardly going to have the best interests or well being of the citizens as any sort of consideration in it's decision making process.
