I'm ambivalent on this H:CE remake, because A) I already bought and played one remake on the 360, B) why not just fire up the original again? Even if it runs out of steam around The Library it's still awesome, and C) there is exactly one remake that is better than the original, and that's Resident Evil on the GameCube. Metroid: Zero Mission qualifies too if you're not a huge fan of the NES game like me, but that stealth crap right at the end is horrendous.

There's also plenty of discourse on X about how the remake throws out the intentionally cold and stark design language Bungie chose for the ring (to emphasize that it's artificial) in favor of lush modern visuals. I also find it funny that they put an ammo counter on the needler.

Speaking of Metroid, Halo is kind of in the same place as it story-wise. The developers screwed up the ongoing plot so badly that it's only really possible to go backward, because no one wants to sort out all the stupid plot baggage. I mean, I guess 343 tried in Infinite, but handwaving H5's cliffhanger away completely off-screen was deeply unsatisfying.
