Cool gaming development if you love old sci-fi sims like me - a group of devs just released XWVM, which aims to modernize the 1993 classic X-Wing with modern graphics and QOL improvements, and make it playable on today's hardware and OSes:

https://www.moddb.com/mods/xwvm

I've been messing around with it for the past week or two and it is VERY awesome. I have no idea what kind of black magic these guys worked, but it looks like a game that came out this year while playing exactly the same as it did in 1993. All you need is a copy of the original game, which is available on Steam and GOG. They're planning to support TIE Fighter and possibly XvT down the line.

I'd recommend the Reimagined campaign of TFTC if you want to replay that one, though. TIE Fighter is my 2nd favorite video game of all time, and I think it's better than the original. This one requires X-Wing Alliance.
