The problem is that for Israel, Iran looks like the one holding back. The Sunni and Shia split is real but there are many times in history of temporary alliances. Had Israel acted differently on October the 7th it might of score diplomatic victory. The thing is that Israel is little different to the crusaders state of the past. If you think of the 6 day war in terms of all Israeli history it could be seen as a Pyrrhic victory. This is since the war taught the wrong lesson to Israel and taking the areas of the West bank and Gaza has been a long term diplomatic loss. In terms of resources spent it is a money hole, only saved by the USA and European countries. Had smarter people been in control of Israel after the 6 day war, they could of released the West bank and Gaza. They would of been seen as liberators. Oh well, it is what it is.
