Nothing in Russia's foreign policy stance, pre-2022, indicates this was ever a likely outcome. The Russians made clear back in 2012 to William Burns that they would not tolerate ANY form of NATO entry for Ukraine. If the Trumpasaur had tried it, Putin would have invaded Ukraine regardless.

and while the CCP didn’t like Trump’s trade deals that much, the Chinese certainly understand the concept of negotiating and wheeling and dealing. it wouldn’t be the idiotic Creepy Joe strategery of constantly threatening to go to war with our primary manufacturing base over Taiwan.

If Trump was allow to be President in 2020 (ie little to no cheating by the Dems), how would Trump treat Ukraine and Russia? Would he had negotiated a deal before a conflict would happen?
