I'm glad to see a shout-out to the New English Translation (NET). With the translator notes, it is an incredible convergence of easy reading, high clarity, and precise accuracy.

My most fruitful daily studies over the past 4 years have been in the Old Testament. What if there was a world-class literary critic who wrote books about poetry and the narrative artistry in classic literature? What if he had a profound understanding of Hebrew to English? What if he made a magnum opus that was a single-hand translation of the Hebrew text and added translation notes and commentary on the artistry of the work?
https://smile.amazon.com/Hebrew-Bible-Translation-Commentary-Three/dp/0393292495/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1666964854&sr=8-1

Then you have a translation where the psalms dance, the prophets thunder, and the ambiguities of Abraham and David rage across the pages. This is something special, and the more time I spend in the Hebrew Bible the more refined and beautiful Jesus becomes in my life.

Bible Project is a non profit out of Portland that simply crushes at everything they work on. You take a seminary professor with a profound grasp of the metanarrative of scripture. You pair him with an explainer-video specialist who spent years developing training for Google. Then you get a whiteboard overview of each book of the bible that brings the context to light and the book to life. Example: Psalms https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9phNEaPrv8
The theme videos and podcast they do each week is a treasure trove of unpacking big themes of God for his people.

Holy crap that was awesome. Will have to add that to my library.

I pray the exorcism prayer from the St. Benedict medal every morning. Learn it in Latin for best effect.

*Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux. Non Draco Sit Mihi Dux.

(The Holy Cross be my light. Let not the dragon be my guide)

*Vade Retro Satana, Nunquam Suade Mihi Vana. Sunt Mala Quae Libas, Ipse Venena Bibas

(Step back, Satan, do not suggest to me thy vanities. Evil are the things thou profferest, drink thou thy own poison)
