Econ was my primary university focus, and it is a waste of time.
You have an accurate read, most econ students can’t hack if mathematically or logically, myself included. These are not malicious lies, just midwits playing way over their heads in positions of power.
Even while I was in the program it was obvious no one intended it to be used seriously.

It is a classic play stupid games, win stupid prize situation. You measure GDP and make decisions based on GDP but it’s a useless metric. If I do my laundry or my wife at home, zero-sum GDP contribution. If I do my laundry at a laundromat while doing a prostitute, it has transactions and is therefore additive to GDP. Therefore, option two is superior for the economist.

That’s a dead-end model right there, just like the hilarious Keynesian Cat/broken window fallacy in that top meme.

i’ll agree with the Krat on this one. “Economists” have told almost as many lies as psychiatrists dating back to Keynes and Marx ( to the extent that one considers Karl an economist ).

it gets kind of blatant when Keynes’ response to a critique of his theory inevitably failing was, “In the long run, we’re all dead.” because, of course, a childless homosexual pedophile has no use for a future beyond his interment.

You’re too generous. Economists can do math. Of course they can. They can also lie to suit an agenda, and do, almost all the time.
