What drives Capt. Capitalism into the fatalism at the end of his piece is three-fold:
1. Linear trend forecasting. That which is happening will continue to happen. Societies don’t work this way.
2. Reckoning with Jesus and/or a crashing reality changes people. We’re due for another reformation/great-awakening/fourth turning this decade.
3. The future belongs to those who show up for it. These trends are not new and the rotten fruit the boomers started don’t have the same number of children as the BASED-TRADs repopulating the landscape.

In USA Basketball, there’s never been a Michael Jordan and probably won’t be another. Oft imitated but never duplicated, he’s the type of player that everything in the game revolved around so long as he was playing.

Great pitchers are like this too, Nolan Ryan didn’t replicate after decades of greatness. Both of these men failed out of high school teams and then re-took the place with vengeance.

So I’m amazed Buakaw replicated his success with Banchamek, even down to close quarters roundhouse/rib crackers. Great video breakdown on an unbelievable accomplishment. I wonder if there’s a difference in mental development from the western individual success model (even in a team sport) compared to the eastern community success model (even in a solo sport)
