You make a good point about the Late Bronze Age Collapse. Interestingly, the archaeological evidence increasingly points to the events in the Book of Exodus taking place during that same time period, which would actually make a very great deal of sense.

I've been re-reading the history of the Late Bronze Age collapse, circa 1200-1100BC, and I think it offers a useful bit of insight into what's coming, contra the fall of Rome. A highly civilized and interconnected world collapsed and kicked off a legitimate Dark Age that lasted centuries. It also had the highly amusing side effect of potentially creating the Sea Peoples, basically a Mad Max-esque roving band of hooligans who pillaged their way around the Mediterranean as best they could.

Also wanted to second the recommendation for the Heretics of St Possenti - I come back to that one at least once a year because I find it moving and inspirational, as well as a powerful response to the pu$$ification of the modern day.
