“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Resist and bite

There is absolutely nothing original about comparing the very visible and observable decline of the West, with the decline and fall of the Roman Empire. I am certainly not the first to make that comparison. Assuredly I will not be the last. Unoriginal though such comparisons might be, they prove illuminating nonetheless. And the thing is, when the Empire finally “fell” in 476 AD, it did so with barely a peep. Pretty much nobody really noticed, because the “Empire” died long ago.

In this aspect, the fall of the (Western) Roman Empire was certainly different. When – not if, but WHEN – the American Empire falls, probably in a few years hence, it will almost surely be with a thunderous crash. The shock-waves will be felt around the world for decades to come. This absolutely will not be like the fall of the Soviet Union, which took place with hardly any violence at all, compared to the sheer size of the empire.

There is, however, one intriguing parallel to the current situation that doesn’t appear to have occurred to many.

The Misguided Honour of Livius

If you have never watched it before, the classic 1964 film, The Fall of the Roman Empire, is well worth the 3-hour (yes, really) runtime. It has some flaws – big ones, actually – but overall, it does well in examining the planting of the seeds of the empire’s downfall. The history is… MESSY, to say the least. But the core of the film contains undeniable truths.

Essentially, if you’ve seen Gladiator, then you know what to expect. Marcus Aurelius dies, his corrupt and venal son Commodus succeeds him, and the empire goes straight to pot. Yet there is more to the story than merely this. You will observe how, in the space of just a few years, all of the martial strength and virtue of the Empire falls away. Good men turn bad with astonishing speed. The banality of evil makes itself felt at every turn. People give themselves over to hedonistic excess with shocking speed.

And that is all while a parallel plot plays out, in which the Roman Senate votes to give the precious gift of citizenship to Germanic barbarians.

Watch the speech in the Roman Senate, in particular. You will see and hear EXACTLY the same arguments that open-borders advocates have used since 1965 to swamp the Western nations with not-Westerners. (I do not think it coincidence that the Hart-Celler Act passed a year after the release of this film.)

The most important and relevant theme for our modern age, however, has to do with the reluctance of good men to do what is necessary to save their civilisation. And no one man embodies this failure better than the upright, honest, incorruptible General Gaius Livius.

When Good Men Fail to Act

16 Gladiator Commodus Murders Marcus Aurelius Full Scene ...

In the film, Emperor Marcus Aurelius names General Livius his heir and ruler over the Empire, because he fears what his hedonistic and amoral son will do. (This did not actually happen. Marcus Aurelius did, however, permit his son to become Caesar, ending the tradition of adoptive ascension that preceded him. That Commodus was corrupt and foolish is not in dispute. This was the greatest of Marcus Aurelius’s failures as Emperor, and is the greatest stain upon his otherwise most excellent legacy.) And when Commodus’s friends poison Aurelius, Gaius Livius refuses to take over the empire using the Army, even though he knows damned well who and what Commodus is.

Does that sound familiar to you?

This is precisely what happened in America in 2020.

Make no mistake: His Most Illustrious, Noble, August, Benevolent, and Legendary Celestial Majesty, the God-Emperor of Mankind, Donaldus Triumphus Magnus Astra, the First of His Name, the Lion of Midnight, the Chaddest of Chads, may the Lord bless him and preserve him, had that election in the bag. Only through MASSIVE fraud and serious scheming did the Daemoncrats manage to subvert the election. But they did it, and now we find ourselves surrounded by fraud.

The reason why he “lost” an election that he was VERY CLEARLY WINNING, in landslide fashion, was because the people who should have acted, failed to do so.

The local legislatures failed to act. Then the State legislatures and governors failed to act. And then the Supreme Court of the United States – particularly the liberal-in-cuck’s-robes John Roberts – failed to respond. On top of all of that, the US military, the last guardian of America’s freedoms and its final bulwark against government tyranny, failed to do its sworn duty.

And look at where we are now. America is falling to pieces before our eyes. All because good men refused to act, out of fear for their own positions and personal standings.

The Fake Election is not the only example of such fraud. We now have a Fake Administration in charge in the USA, with a Fake President. The Fake Pope in Rome issues edicts and commands that go directly against Scripture. The Fake Vaccines that China distributes, to fight the very virus that it evidently created, have done great damage throughout the developing world. And that is before we get to the Fake Economy, which shows serious signs of strain.

All of this – every single last bit of it – is happening because good men have failed to act. Just like General Livius failed to act.

Stand and Deliver

Is Barbarians a True Story? Did the Battle of the ...

The reason why General Livius failed to do what was necessary, was because he dd not wish to tear the Empire apart. He would not take command when offered the opportunity. Instead, he deliberately backed down and gave power to a man that he ABSOLUTELY KNEW was unworthy of it.

In other words, he went down to Honourable Defeat.

This is precisely the problem with those of us on the Right. We value our sense of honour so highly that we will not do what is necessary to save our people when we must. We won’t even bother to defend ourselves, because we value social cohesion too highly – we just want to be left the Hell alone and would prefer to meekly submit instead of taking a stand and fighting back.

Well, my friend, those days are well and truly OVER.

Here in The Agoge, we don’t do “meek surrender’. We don’t do “honourable defeat”. We sure as shit don’t care about the opinions of losers, complainers, and whiners.

We get our marching orders from a Higher Power, the One who created us. And when He tells us to go to war, we bloody well DO IT.

Our ways of waging war are rather different from traditional approaches, of course. Rather than swords and guns, we fight with prayer and fasting. But the time is VERY rapidly approaching when spiritual warfare will turn into ACTUAL warfare, and you must prepare for this.

But how, you might ask, are we supposed to fight back against a world in moral decay, where good men fail to do what is necessary, when they must?

I’m glad you asked. That’s why The Agoge exists, and that is the point of this post. Here’s how you go about it:

Start Your Own Heresy

Remember what I wrote earlier about building your brothers up? To my great delight, several of my readers have already put that into action. This is the first, and most difficult, step of all. You have to find others just like you.

But, almost immediately, you will be confronted by a significant dilemma.

You see, as Christians, God COMMANDS us to obey Earthly law and work to persuade others to our cause through force of example and argument. His Hugeness didn’t suggest that we be non-violent. He didn’t recommend it. He COMMANDED it. And this is a serious problem, because He also commanded us to hate the wicked and not tolerate evildoers.

When God commands you to do something, you don’t argue. You STFU and DO IT.

But how do you square this particular circle?

Well, several years ago, I wrote a post about one of the very finest books that you will ever read about brotherhood, nobility, and redemption. It is called The Heretics of St. Possenti, by Rolf Nelson, and it outlines precisely how you can create a brotherhood of like-minded men to enact profound change – WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE LAW.

In very condensed fashion, the plot goes as follows:

A young, weak, and pudgy pastor in the Catholic Church (I think) finds himself mugged and beaten by a junkie. His standard Churchian principles of meek surrender abandon him. He tries to fight back and the junkie beats the shit out of him. Understanding that he has just received an extremely rude awakening and a calling, he establishes a monastic order designed to give broken men a place to train, heal, and bond, while manufacturing their own ammunition and learning combative and survival skills.

(Yes, you read that right – MMA FIGHTING MONKS WITH GUNS!!! Seriously, the premise just sells itself. Buy yourself a copy – and buy 10 more for your male relatives and friends.)

If you have not read the book, go get it. You need to understand how to setup an organisation that fights back using completely legal and lawful weapons. That is precisely what the monastic order depicted in the book does.

Building a Resilient Organisation

The hardest part of building an organisation like this is figuring out how to get started. Most men need a fire lit under our butts to get us to move in such a direction. Sooner or later, such a thing will happen to you. And you need to be ready for that moment.

Furthermore, we on the Right are, as a general rule, ornery individualists who don’t much care for groups and people. We need, individually and collectively, to get past this reflex.

It is vitally important that you get over your instinctive need to get into stupid playground food fights over doctrine, dogma, and belief. They are just a massive waste of time. Such stupidities will stop you from doing what you need to do in order to create organisations and networks that can stand up against the literally Apocalyptic stupidity and evil of the modern Left.

I am a non-denominational Christian – an EXTREMELY bad one. Even so, I don’t care if you dislike Catholics, or Protestants, or Baptists, or whatever. If you find a good Christian brother whose basic belief in Jesus Christ is sound, and who seeks the Truth, that’s good enough. Figure out the rest over time.

The next step is to meet up and engage in actual physical activities together. Again, I don’t care if you think that Krav Maga is better than Sistema Spetsnaz, or judo is better than Brazilian jiu-jitsu, or sambo is better than all of those things combined. Most of us need to learn how to fight and we need to learn how to be good at it. Find like-minded men. Meet up. Touch gloves. Beat the shit out of each other. And go out for drinks afterwards.

Believe me when I say that NOTHING builds trust and respect faster and more thoroughly than getting punched hard in the face by someone with whom you subsequently break bread.

Over time, these natural networks and organisations will evolve and turn into real brotherhoods that you can turn to in times of stress. But remember that you must earn their trust – and they must earn yours.

Above all, you must do everything in your power to fumigate the cucks, Gammas, and traitors who will inevitably be attracted to whatever you build. This is not easy, but it is not impossible either. You simply have to obey the observable rules of the SSH and ensure that you follow the advice of Our Beloved and Dreaded Supreme Dark Lord (PBUH) Vox Day the Most Malevolent. You have to nip that shit right in the bud.

Conclusion – Join the Resistance

The only way to avoid the fate of someone like Gaius Livius and the empire bequeathed to him, is to stand up when destiny calls you. The USA is in almost certainly terminal decline and well on the road toward dissolution and fratricidal war, precisely because good men failed to act when called upon to do so. You must not suffer the same fate.

The only way to do so is to find like-minded men who will keep you on track and fuel your fire to achieve your Mission. That Mission is yours alone. If you don’t know what it is yet, pray to God to reveal it to you. He certainly revealed mine to me – though He had to hit me over the head a few (hundred) times with a clue-bat before I finally figured it out. (As Longtime Readers know quite well by now, I can be kind of a dumbass.)

Above all, when God calls upon you to stand firm, take command, and lead, do NOT ignore the call. You WILL live to regret it if you do.

I’ve been re-reading the history of the Late Bronze Age collapse, circa 1200-1100BC, and I think it offers a useful bit of insight into what’s coming, contra the fall of Rome. A highly civilized and interconnected world collapsed and kicked off a legitimate Dark Age that lasted centuries. It also had the highly amusing side effect of potentially creating the Sea Peoples, basically a Mad Max-esque roving band of hooligans who pillaged their way around the Mediterranean as best they could.

Also wanted to second the recommendation for the Heretics of St Possenti – I come back to that one at least once a year because I find it moving and inspirational, as well as a powerful response to the pu$$ification of the modern day.

You make a good point about the Late Bronze Age Collapse. Interestingly, the archaeological evidence increasingly points to the events in the Book of Exodus taking place during that same time period, which would actually make a very great deal of sense.
