In reply to <a href="https://didacticmind.com/2021/04/didactic-mind-ep-77-the-forge-of-vulcan.html#comment-6111">Johnny</a>.

My honest answer is that I have no idea how bad things really are, but I am extremely suspicious of the reports that I'm seeing.

Official and news reports appear to converge around a figure of roughly 3,300 people dying per day across India from the Commiepox. The true figure is probably twice that, given the Modi government's chronic refusal to admit the truth about much of anything that makes it look bad.

The fact that India, with its dreadful sanitation, extreme overcrowding, lousy public hygiene, and Dirt World public health system, has been hit really hard by this latest wave, is not overly surprising. The country is a breeding ground for disease and nasty bugs.

That being said... many things about this outbreak simply do not stack up.

India is a tropical-to-subtropical country, and right this moment is by far the hottest and most miserable season of India's generally awful weather patterns. It is stupidly, disgustingly, appallingly hot in much of the country now. The Kung Flu is a seasonal bug that strikes hardest in winter during cold and clammy conditions. That is the precise opposite of what we see in India right now.

On top of that, General Tso's Chicken Pox is now hitting a much younger demographic with a level of lethality that appears to be higher than the original virus. This doesn't make sense. In evolutionary terms, a more lethal variant of the virus should burn itself out faster, because increased lethality makes the virus less likely to reproduce.

It's also worth considering the fact that conditions in many African countries are worse than they are in India. Yet Africa has not been hit nearly as hard - the apocalyptic predictions made by the Faucians of the world did not come to pass there.

So I'm not sure at this stage what to make of anything coming out of India - other than to say that lockdowns will not work (they never did), and vaccines are dubious at best in terms of effectiveness, unless we're talking about the Russian Sputnik V, which I actually do trust.
