Your monday morning stuff around the MMA Bukawand then writing about Krav was part of what got me over the hump, started with a BJJ school with my wife just this month. Thank you!

You are most welcome indeed, and thank you for telling me this. I'm just amazed by the reaction that my recent writing has received - readers have been writing in via email and comments to tell me that my work has really helped them, and that is truly humbling to see. Thank you and best of luck to you and your wife with BJJ - it is a fantastic martial art that will keep you in great shape while also letting you have a lot of fun.

All four of these criteria are spot on. Maybe some confirmation bias because my life lines up with all of them, but that tells me we've independently come to the same conclusion.

Cut the crap/Understand the decay: Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman is a book published in 1985 that crucifies television and it's degenerate effects on the American mind. What astonished me in reading it was the predictive power of his model: Once television becomes ubiquitous, it becomes the default option for most people. "I could go to church, or I could watch TV. I could play catch with my son, or I could watch TV. I could call mom...or I could watch TV. "
This cycle intensifies the more channels available and the more entertaining the options become.
Here's why that's bad: Because it must be entertaining to hold your attention, the medium shapes the message. 'Serious' TV is just entertainment in masquerade, it's primary purpose is to entertain, and then that shapes the education it provides.
People think at the speed the TV tells them to think, and no faster and certainly not with independence. I encourage anyone looking to break free of chains to read it, it goes quick.

Good beautiful and true: Absolutely true. If you can't make time to get with your creator and redeemer who wants to spend time with you, you aren't serious about being a free man.

Strengthen Body: The barbell weight programs (starting strength in particular) can do amazing work if you stick with it. and stick to the form. Having a body that can squat 2.2x your own body weight just makes life better.

Your monday morning stuff around the MMA Bukawand then writing about Krav was part of what got me over the hump, started with a BJJ school with my wife just this month. Thank you!

Peace and strength to you, brother, and thanks to you as well. For whatever reason, over the past few days my writing has been filled with a purpose and clarity that I don't think has really been there before. All I can say is, I know my purpose now - to lead men back onto the narrow path.

Nice post. A lot of shit has been going on lately, so a post on concrete advice for improvement is a what people need in my opinion.

Lately, my mind has been preoccupied by thoughts on boredom. I had my head in a cloud for years about the lie that I have to feel like doing something before doing it or the usual 'follow your passion' advice. I'm not about to advocate working for a soul sucking finance job, but finding work or starting a business that has 2-3 exciting aspects about it and another 10 boring tasks that you have to go through is the norm. I have to admit, I just started to make serious abstinence from the vices that you mentioned and I feel better.

I have not fully integrated that belief in my mind yet, so I was wondering what would be your advice on propelling yourself towards a desirable belief and outcome once you start cutting off the anchors that hold you back?

As a general rule isn't it true that passion is cultivated and not something that you already have, with maybe a few exceptions around the world?
