Honestly, I don’t find that coffee has any real effect on me. While I don’t drink it before I sleep, I also don’t find any particularly strong effect from it. I drink it mostly for the aroma and flavour. I love a good well-made latte.

The Russians have a superb concoction that you can only really find there. It’s called “Raf Coffee” – a standard latte with a double-shot of espresso, but they make it with cream rather than milk, and they add flavoured syrups to it. A well-made Raf can come in hazelnut, chestnut, mint, strawberry, cherry, caramel, and about a dozen other flavours. If you ask the barista, “Подготовите не слишком сладке, пожалуйста” (“make it not too sweet, please”), then you can get a very pleasant evening drink.

I miss Russia…

One thing I’m curious about is how coffee is working for you? Do you get a hard crash afterwards? Are you a bit more careful with distractions around you because your body is pumping so much adrenaline?
