I loved Pacific Rim too. It's awesome, it's dumb, it's noisy, it's crazy, and it's just plain FUN to watch. Guillermo Del Toro definitely understood his target audience – basically, guys and a few girls with repressed inner 8-year-olds – and respected his source material.

You can always tell when an artist loves what they're working in, because it comes through in their work. Guillermo Del Toro clearly has a deep love of both kaiju movies and giant robots.
