The Navy carrier-based version needs a conning tower instead of the rear seat, along with adjustable flotation devices in the place of the JDAMs ...

That way the F-35 Navy Bath Turduckenekranoplan may also complete its mission as a jet-propelled floating rubber duck instead of as a flying one.

The Marines won't need this version because they'll be flying the former F-35 Turduckencopter with adjustable flaperons in a central rotor configuration in its new role as a carrier-based flak catcher meant to protect the Glass Bottomed Boats that the Navy will eventually be ordering.

The JCS will believe that the Turduckenfleet with their ability to avoid the S400 missile systems happens to be the "best of breed" ...

As long as the breed is a duck, and the only thing you're shooting at them happens to be the S400, then they're probably perfectly fine. :-)

The US is basically a tough old boxer dying of cancer

Yeah. Slowly and horribly. It's painful to watch.

My favorite scary example, because of our inability to source tritium, the US is 15 years or so from no longer being a nuclear power.

I wasn't aware of that. Would you mind pointing me to a couple of sources about the issue? I'd be interested to know more.

This doesn't come at a surprise. The US is basically a tough old boxer dying of cancer,

We simply lack the ability to make things we needs . My favorite scary example, because of our inability to source tritium, the US is 15 years or so from no longer being a nuclear power.

And note AFAIK we've made zero progress on the issue in the decade or so its been on the table either.
