Famously world champion Capablanca didn't study Chess opening theory until later in his career. He just new the rules and the principles so well he could adapt to anything. He beat the famous Marshall attack in the first game it was every played in. Trump could be like that were he just knows the new rules and principles of politics better than anyone.
