“We are Forerunners. Guardians of all that exists. The roots of the Galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending. Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms… And the impervious shelter, beneath which it has prospered.”

Did you ever wonder how Europe ended up being such an utter dog’s breakfast in terms of political alliances and associated asshattery?

Blame the Treaty of Westphalia:

That was from back when English comedy used to be really, really funny. These days, though… We have to put up with this sort of shite:

This sort of thing is marginally better:

… but not by much when compared with old-school Monty Python and classics like Yes, Minister, Fawlty Towers, and To the Manor Born.

Speaking of the latter:

In terms of humour, though, it is difficult to think of any modern comedian – American or British – who can do better than a certain US President:

Well, there’s Rowan Atkinson, of course, but he’s from a different, and much funnier, generation of Brit comics.

Truly, the world of comedy has gone a long way downhill.
