I lived there for 2 years in the early 90's and it was a pretty great city back then, with none of the issues you speak of now. I was shocked to see reports about the binge drinking trends as well, as that seems to be a relatively new phenomenon too. Seeing drunken teenagers or 20-somethings passed out on the streets in hooker outfits was not common at all, so something has definitely changed for the worse. I spent a lot of wild nights out in Soho out until 3-4am or even until the next morning, and never saw people passed out on the street in droves or fistfights break out as a rule. Of course there were drugs and booze and people getting very intoxicated, but generally somehow people still kept their sh&t together in public for the most part, or if they got that drunk their friends would take them home. It almost seems like people are competing with one another to see who can be more outrageous...either that, or there's just no shame anymore about this kind of behavior out on the streets.

In reply to <a href="https://didacticmind.com/2013/02/the-joys-of-london.html#comment-4382">Bob</a>.

Hi Bob- welcome.

I haven't been back to Sydney in, oh, 12 years, so I don't know what it's like now. I do remember it being a very beautiful city, at least in the north and east, but the west was not a great place to be. I suspect it's gotten worse out there since I left.

It's true that white flight is not possible in London, but only if you don't want to move out of Greater London. There are still very conservative bedrock parts of England, but they are largely ignored by the elites, it would appear.

Hi, an Aussie here and I want to say a few things.

1. The Aus scene is being ruined by immigrants and the nanny state mentality. To have any fun you have to go to Bali or Thailand etc.

2. Sydney is fucken expensive thanks to the high immigration. I have never been to London so I can't compare though. Then again, that is the elite's plan, to reduce us all to the poor class.

3. England sucks worse than anywhere else in the world because white flight isn't possible. There isn't really anywhere to go, which is why London is a great example of our planned future.
